Anyone here ever dyno-ed a 355? If so what did it come out as?

I love 355s but have always been of the opinion they feel more like a 320-340bhp car rather than 380. It doesn't matter really as they're plenty quick enough to enjoy on the road, but I am just curious for some real numbers.

Also interested in 360 dyno numbers if anyone has.

My 550 is going on SRR's dyno in a few weeks when I have time - took my '94 NVR 993 there last Sat and she was virtually bang on the 268 bhp she was supposed to leave the factory with smile

Top speed for a car is give or take a bit proportional to the the cube root of its power i.e. to double the top speed you need 8 times the power. So if your car is supposed to do 183 mph and only does 178mph in test conditions, you could be down about 8.5% on power (= [1 - (183/178)^3]x100) or about 32bhp. Or you could have been going up a slight hill or into a headwind and have the full complement of ponies.

I guess what I'm saying is that top speed achieved is necessarily a good indicator of engine output!

I tried to vmax my 993 Cab in Germany a month or so ago and bottled it at about 135. Apparently they'll do 160mph+, but that's purely academic: I don't want to be anywhere near a 993 going that speed, let alone in one judging by how unstable it felt!.....although admittedly the aero was never going to be great given the canvas roof.

ETA: we had the 550 at a comfortable 170mph on Germany last summer, felt absolutely rock solid, a real credit to the car and its GT credentials....god knows what speed you can peddle something like a 599/F12 at before it feels a little dicey hehe
