I'm looking at 458's and lhd 430 scuderia. Do people sell these privately very often? I'm finding literally a handful that are private. Is this due to a lot of people wanting to finance them? Does anyone know what trade/dealer margin is?

If private and retail prices are virtually identical then I would buy trade too (due to ease and more protection).I had thoughy that there was between 10 and 20% margin between the price a trader bought for and the sale price. 20% being main dealer with 2 yr warranty and 10% being an Indy trader. Am I way off the mark? If we really are talking about a couple of grand, then I may as well give up looking and go trader/dealer route!

I always thought main dealers owned their stock ... but today I phoned about one and was told it was sale or return!. So I guess not!

Looking at a perfect car with a trader based in Italy. Trader is happy for car to go to main Ferrari dealer for inspection. Has anyone imported anything from Italy? Is it difficult? How have you handled ensuring good title and paying?

If 20% is the case then its really annoying. I would happily split the difference and pay the seller 10% more than the trader will.

Exactly what I want is up sor with a main dealer. I want to pay 10% less than advertised price. Trader says owner wont go for it. If I was dealing direct the price would probably be fine as im guessing that 2yrs warranty and the commission comes to more than the 10% I want off!! Frustrating.
