I'm seriously considering swapping my lovely Aston Vantage S Roadster for a Gallardo. I had hoped this Vantage would effectively replace two of my previous cars - a F355 GTS as my 'supercar' and a Vantage coupe which was one of my daily work cars. In fact it falls down between the two - being a bit too flash as an occasional work car (not helped by it being pearlescent white!)and not feeling enough of a supercar to replace the Ferrari. My preference would be for a two wheel drive convertible Gallardo, but I'm not even sure any were made. Failing that I think the Performante looks and sounds amazing. I was hoping to see this one at HR Owen on Friday but gather it was sold yesterday:

Compared to the only other one on Autotrader it seemed like a good price at £135k. Even after reading through many of the posts on here I'm not sure how many Performantes there are in the UK and just wondered what your best guess would be of prices in the depths of this winter and then maybe in 3 years time when I may consider selling...? I would be happy to buy a car with above average mileage as I would no doubt bring the average down. If anyone is considering selling theirs (ideally below the HR Owen price) then please let me know.

After all my research on here I'm expecting an imminent reply from someone who owns a red one smile

Thanks. Sadly the only one in my price range (and in my preferred colour of orange) has now sold. I'm not sure I could spend £85k on a fake one either, cheaper in the short term but I would imagine a nightmare to sell in the future (particularly if it is recorded as damaged) and I expect the future potential appreciation of a real one would make it a safer ownership prospect - and more rewarding on every level!

Cheap? At £160k it's £25k more than the orange one I was interested in!

How have other special editions of Lamborghinis fared price wise in the past? Ferraris seem to appreciate dramatically over time, not so sure that these will follow suit?

Enough of the bickering! I was hoping that the buyer of the orange Performante had pulled out as I was in London today and could have popped across to HR Owen. Unfortunately it is the orange LP560 roadster where the buyer has changed his mind and I'm not keen to sink £140k into a fast depreciating car. I did ask the salesman about Performante prices and his view is that they are holding steady rather than rising. He thinks this will continue for the time being with them eventually appreciating as a rare model. I mentioned I might also be interested in a RWD roadster, but although he thinks there may be a couple in the UK he has never seen one...

I am reasonably sure that this Spyder at Hopetoun House a few years back was an LP550-2 Spyder. Coincidentally, this plate is up for sale. PM for details smile
Well, I'm certainly interested in that car if it ever comes on the market if it is 2wd smile Not sure which way I'm going to turn car wise now. Today test drove an SLS roadster which was very impressive (with potential to appreciate too) and also spent some time picking my local Ferrari dealer's brains for ideas. May spend a lot more than I intended and buy something very interesting...

The price rises he quoted of various Ferraris over the last year are incredible, would I be buying at the top of a bubble? I doubt it, but you never know!

Well, I've decided to postpone Lambo ownership - and instead opted for an SLS roadster. I thought it was awesome on the test drive and there are very few of them around (only 75 in the UK apparently) so hopefully a good bet depreciation wise too. Time will tell, but I'll have fun in the meantime biggrin
