Looks like the journalists are getting out in the new Lamborghini Performante Coupe and there are unconfirmed rumors of a 6 min 52sec lap at the ring!!!

If that turns out to be true that's a full 5 seconds off of the Porsche Spyder current record laughlaughlaugh

I think you need to read the report in context,Lamborghini refused to confirm a time but those of us with one on order we have been told its beaten the Aventador and potentially set a new record.

If you look at the improvements you have not just aero but Weight,Tyres,Suspension,Geometry and Circa Another 30BHP which added together with the new aero is quite a lot of gains.

Take two standard performance cars side by side and put them to the lap test on a small track of 2-3 KMS and you could well see a variance of 1-2 seconds just related to geo, corner weight and tyre pressures so over a 20KM lap that's a big multiple.

I wouldn't rule it in or out yet but it looks like Lamborghini have done a bit more than the late Night Teenage Halfords Ram Rader trying to make his Vauxhall Corsa outpace a 599 Lol biggrin

I call bullst!

There's no way a couple of flaps (along with other modest gains for perfomantes) is going to shave 36 seconds off the standard Huracan around the Ring. It's the equivalent of a teenager putting a huge spoiler, an obnoxious exhaust and a couple of go faster stripes on his fiesta and believes it's quicker than the latest Ferrari!

I'm not surprised it's Motortrend reporting these claims....

Furthermore if this has been achieved I think the driver deserves to have his dick bronzed and displayed!
And if it was Sabine Schmitz?
Probably?

Yes I've booked my slot for Sunday and will do Geneva also!

I've been told that the Performante lapped quicker than the 918.

Combo of driver talent, active aero and tyres.

Anyone going to the preview event beginning of Feb?

When you compare the time intervals going up the hill the Porsche 918 ekes out a 10+ second advantage. That's all about power up the hill apart from one high speed corner. I expect the Performante to be fast but am anticipating a time between 7:05-7:10 if their aero trickery is as good as they claim.

I would prefer the carbon to look like my current Performantes, cant imagine what door cards would look like in that stuff?

I'm sure the performance and sound will be outstanding. The bits which I'm not sure about are the 'copper' coloured engine covers, the shape of the rear diffuser and also the extensive use of visable carbon composite instead of carbon fibre. I appreciate that it's stronger, lighter etc, etc but to me, it doesn't look very nice. Hopefully it's one of the many options available.

I'm sure this and much more will be discussed in a new topic that pops up following next weekends previews.

Lambo.s Carbon composite is a strange idea, to me it looks like stressed plastic. It might be a bit lighter but the weight saving must be minimal.

Agreed, it looks pretty naff and it feels even worse - not sure if it was lacquered it would look any better. Hopefully you can opt to have the normal 'heavy' carbon fibre in the cabin or the external bits you can see. If not, then it would be a deal breaker for me personally.
Reminds me of this

Both great cars, but HP edges it. Faster and prettier with a better badge.

Or just maybe as a Performante expert he is keeping quiet about it as he got in first and didn't want to let the cat out of the bag scratchchin

I'm certainly keeping stum on my next McLaren
