Pretty sure it's some crazy external script you're running, but click on just about any forum section (or sub section) and momentarily you see it, then it will display a blank screen (it's not a crash -- other open tabs and the browser itself are not affected).

Happens without fail in Iceweasel and Chromium. I've yet to see it on any other site.

This message is bought to you in Konqueror, but it's not my browser of choice, by a long way.

Could it be misbehaving adverts? Do any of you use an ad or flash blocker?
Not on Chromium. My guess, though, is that it is bad code on one of the ads. As it doesn't happen regularly on other (ahem) ad rich sites, it's likely to be a pretty rare one.

The trick, surely, would be to run the code through a reference browser. If you find code that isn't to standard, re-write it (or return to the advertiser, get them to re-write it).

I created a topic last week but no one replied frown
Never saw it -- and, then, I avoid Apple!

But it could be the same issue with different results (because of the platform).

I have an old Asus laptop equipped with Splashtop and ExpressGate - it boots in 5 seconds and gets you browsing on t'internet in under 10 seconds. Won't do videos, but for forums etc it's great... until now.

PH forums load, then within maybe 2 seconds the screen blanks white and that's it, game over. Loading.....

It says it's waiting for b/scorecardresearch to load. And it'll say that forever.
I've seen that b/scorecardresearch trying to load before.

Looks like it may be malware (but hosted on websites!) http://www.technobezz.com/remove-b-scorecardresear...

Yet to try that.

In the meantime, isn't anyone actually blocking the relevant port on the server?

[later] Yup, works for me in Iceweasel so probably works in other non MS browsers. (Does make the whole experience a little clunky, BWTH.)

I'm guessing here: there are subtle differences between browsers use of Javascript. It could just be that the script continues to look for a MS version of javascript and simply fails to load if it doesn't find it -- hence the blanking behaviour. MS users should, maybe, worry about exactly what the script is doing. [/later]

Maybe?

Find out what's using that port, if it ain't anything you need, block it -- it shouldn't be open. Just a guess.

Never tried on a phone, but:

Debian Squeeze

Iceweasel -- repeated blanking behavior Mozilla Iceweasel 3.5.16, unless javascript turned off.
Chromium 6.0.472.63 Built on Debian 6.0, running on Debian 6.0.10 (same -- can't work out how to turn javascript off!)

Faults seem isolated to forums.

On same PC, Konqueror works just fine.
