Forums (desktop, not the newer mobile skin) now look like a junior-school coding project - awkward font-spacing etc. and clicking on the new post arrow does not refresh the thread fully. Using Firefox 38.0.1.

What has changed?

OK - so I have to select the Beta 2 skin to use (or in an attempt to use) the forums on a mobile device, which means I now have to also look at something hopelessly amateurish on a non-mobile device.

Do people actually get paid to mess this stuff up?

Selecting My Topics in Beta 2 looks awkward - the typeface is compressed slightly and has large spacing - looks like the page hasn't quite managed to load compared to the Classic skin. Ctrl+ helps a bit.

Clicking the new posts arrow also doesn't take you to the new posts nine times out of ten (e.g. you cannot see the last post as indicated by the preview), and refreshing the page doesn't help.

It's also wrapping longer user names over two lines unless I reduce the font size to unreadable.

This Beta 2 business really is complete crap on a desktop - I can see that a post has been updated, but that reply won't appear when I click on the New Posts arrow. I can even reply to the thread and the previous reply still isn't visible.

Still happening (and having to log into the desktop site on every single visit is getting pretty tedious).

... now having to log in to the mobile site on each visit too. Useless.

Yes, I meant on mobile devices rather than mobile site.

This is an issue with ad blocker, it is removing the whole post next to an advert and thus you don't see it. A bug has been raised for this and hopefully get a fix out next week.
Still not fixed.

Trying to view on mobile is a waste of time - virtually every Next page button click is a dead link.

Hopeless.

Using Beta 2 - clicking the next page button or manually entering a page number gives "Sorry, the address entered is not valid".

Is there any reason something more heavyweight and ubiquitous isn't used? e.g. phpBB or vBulletin?
I second this question, seems strange industry standard BB solutions aren't used.
Whereas I can only see that question when it's quoted by someone else.

Is this some sort of bad joke, or are Haymarket actively trying to drive people away from the forums?

Mobile - clicking a thread in My Stuff now takes me to the first page of it; various unresponsive links, security certificate warnings etc.

Mobile is utterly useless, full of dead or unresponsive page links.

and it should have a responsive theme which adapts to mobile or desktop
Except that it doesn't - using it on a mobile device (Chrome) isn't worth the hassle. Press the next page link button - error page (no, I don't want to go to the bloody home page). Try to alternatively press the last page number - unresponsive, only works with a long press to open the options box. Only have these problems on Pistonheads, every other site I use is fine.

Of course, I could just use it on desktop. But that would mean constantly having to re-enter my user name and password ...

"Sorry, the address entered is not valid Proceed to home page"

Is it really so difficult? Happens on every thread with an apostrophe in the title.

Continually having to log-in (across devices) is also tedious in the extreme.

Next page issue is Chrome on Android.

Just tried to view the new posts in this thread via Chrome on XP (I know) - "Nothing to see here".
