If the hamsters were on a lightning strike then the dispute was settled quickly and amicably.

The same type of relatively brief but noticeable PH outage just happened again, this time it produced an error message:

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.

Not a techie, so what's a 503?

I think I had one of those last night.
I'm so used to the site doing something like that from time to time I waited half an hour or so and it was ok
Yes that's what I've been doing, but being nearly as busy as the PH servers wink I just thought it might be something that PH HQ would want to know, and might be able to do something about.

Thanks. Not sure from this side of the internet that, on the recent occasions this has happened (previous downtime hasn't been like this) there's any particular reason for the site to be busy compared to any other time, and was curious what it might be caused by. Thanks again for the link and explanation.

Having been about to post sometime around 1pm that the site had returned the same error message, then took ages to load a blank page, it went down again. When I got back from a client visit around 10 minutes ago (ish) the site was again awol. Hopefully the rodents or equidae will get some vitamin pills soonest.

Still shoite this morning though!
Hanging pages, timeouts, etc.
Youre not one of the erstwhile hamsters scratchchin

I still get the odd hanging blank page fixed by F5, but cant be sure it's PH or something else in the chain
Can't be 100% sure but there are signs it's PH, I've got other sites open and they don't show this behaviour, which is the same as yesterday. For a cherry on top, the 'My Stuff' option has frozen, keeping the same threads highlighted even after numerous visits with no new posts inbetween, i.e. after the first time it was repeated to make sure.

JD
As you asked for reports of anything however minor...PH is experiencing timewarps.

There's one in the Bacterial Vaginosis thread in the Lounge yesterday at 20:28 hrs, promptng this comment at 20:30hrs:

How did you quote me before I'd posted?

Can you give me tonight's winning lotto numbers?
See also the Jeremy Corbyn thread in N P & E today where this post sequence occurred. If you look at the timing of posts around my 'PH timewarp' comment it's clear that the phenomenon happened twice in the space of a few minutes.

Definitely. There's also intermittent slow loading tonight. All we need now is a post with the all-seeing pyramid eye.

Same thing happened again not many minutes ago.

PH pages took an age to load and...blanketyblank!

Then back to normal.

While appreciating that matters are in hand, I thought I'd mention that I just got bounced off the forums to an odd looking log-in page which didn't do as advertised (!) instead I got this:

Service Unavailable

HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.

Then less than one minute later it's all back up.
