Time is dragging!

Still 14 days to go till I pick up my 650S, don't think I'm going to make it!
You know that realisation as you get older that the time is flying by? Well that's gone right out of the window lately, every week seems like a year now. I've had decent cars before but never felt this level of kid at christmas anticipation.
Well that killed 3 minutes and 24 seconds, now what?

Yeah I could pitch a tent in Knightsbridge, or spend a couple of weeks in a cryogenic chamber blissfully unaware. Fortunately work is very busy so that's taking up a lot of time.
Really hope it's dry on the 2nd of March. I mean, it would be just soooo unfair if the roads are damp on the day I pick up my new supercar! Spoilt bd!

I know how you feel - I'm picking up my Speciale next week and time feels like it's stopped.....
Yep, that's exactly how it feels, I think time may start moving swiftly again after you pick her up Johnny! Congrats on the car.
Darren, I've gone for Tarocco Orange.

Turned off in all modes! It just makes the car sound like it's got a "Pancake" air filter fitted, intake roar and that's about it. Mine does have the sports exhaust which sounds glorious when you're "on it" ;-)
I will probably turn it off then, didn't really like the idea of it anyway.Really looking forward to hearing the car with the sport exhaust, I can't remember if the one I test drove had it, I was too busy negotiating the West End traffic to notice!

Be interesting to see what the media say about the new 488 turbo exhaust noise. I have no doubt it'll be "Wonderful, the sound of a Roman legion advancing in full battle mode" Normal nose so far up the prancing horse's a.se" stuff
Well it's to be expected I suppose, Ferrari is the car everyone aspires to, I've owned one and it was a wonderful experience. This time round though the competition just didn't stand up to the 650S for me, and when you're spending this sort of money you should buy what you like, not what impresses others the most. The 488 does look very nice, although with a wait time of 18 months and then comparable performance (or possibly less for the Spider version) than the 650S there's no way I'm waiting for that.
If it turns out to be the best car in the world then I'll probably buy one down the line but right now I can't see anything that excites me like the Mclaren!

When are you picking it up? I was down at MTC and MSO on Monday - there were two Volcano Red 650s's nearing completion.....

Monday.A
It's Tarocco Orange Anjum, I believe it will be arriving at Knightsbridge on Friday for prep.
I am planning to get the 5am train into London, walk to Covent Garden for breakfast and a paper, then take a slow amble across town to Sloane Street. I need to pop into Harvey Nics to change something for the other half then try to stop myself bursting until 9:30 when I'm due to pick up the car.
BBC weather is predicting rain, I'm outraged!

I'll pop in on Friday evening - and have a nosey! I would miss Covent Garden - and head for Motcomb street, SW1 - a few places to grab a breakfast and an old fashioned news agents to grab a paper. The showroom is 4 minutes walk from there - so you won't get wet!
Cheers

No you bugger! Don't go and see it before I do! You know full well how excited we get over these things!Cheers

Okay here's the deal, if you do see the car before me don't tell me anything about it!
Don't tell me that it looks good, or bad or ugly.
Don't mention the interior, the trim or the colour of the wheels.
Don't even tell me the make, the model or even how many sugars you had in your tea while you were standing looking at it!
I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW!!!
<Breath and relax>
And I may well check out Motcomb Street, thanks for the heads up!

Long weekend ahead Brad?
Yeah Carl! Got to find stuff to do!
Taking my Mum to the Dorchester for afternoon tea on Saturday, which means I'll be dangerously close to the showroom.
Sunday I think I'll just spend hours at the gym so I get a good night's sleep.

Actually Carl I wanted to ask you something, know any really nice, out of the way country pubs around Colchester that I could take the other half to for grub on Monday afternoon?

eh? Mother to the Dorchester, a new McLaren and then you go to a pub? Good luck with that
Le Talbooth (also near Dedham)
I am way, way closer to a pub than I'll ever be to the Dorchester Bob believe me. Le Talbooth (also near Dedham)
Mum is 76 and this is a little treat for her, I can confidently say she has never had afternoon tea at a posh London hotel before!
Thanks for your suggestions guys.

I'm sorry, and I know this doesn't help, but I would move heaven and earth to get that lock replaced before monday, rather than inform a customer his brand new toy is already slightly broken. They have three days to get it fixed. Need a new part, here's an idea, get in a car, drive to Woking and GET A NEW ONE!
Well yes RPM it did cross my mind to loose a barrage to that effect but it does just seem to be one of those things. The sales guy I've been dealing with has been brilliant all the way through and I don't think it's on to give him the full hairdryer treatment when it's clearly out of his control.
I've worked too many hours this week to get a head of steam, I'll see what they say on Monday when I've had some rest and will be feeling a little more combative!

Just caught up with your thread brad. I feel the pain of your frustration. Does The Orange mean you've gone all towie and have a matching fake tan?
There's always one with the Essex jokes isn't there? Anyway, I hold you entirely to blame for everything, I'm only buying this car so that I might have half a chance of keeping up with you when your new toy arrives!

How many more days?
My wait came to an end today, I say this in support rather than to revel your pain.
Not a Macca, but I got the Speciale finally and days don't come much better, sunny day, a 100+ miles drive home. I'm still smiling.
Fantastic stuff Johnny, I'm glad it all worked out for you! My wait came to an end today, I say this in support rather than to revel your pain.
