WOW. What a day, what a car! What a lucky bd I am,
I had put a deposit down on this car without actually seeing it or in fact having driven any McLaren. This morning I drove down to Romsey to see Jullian Clinkard who has been a pleasure to deal with. The car was waiting for me glistening in the sun and as soon as I saw it I knew that I had made the right choice. I won't go through for whole spec but the important things for me were the colour, Volcano Red and that it had lifting gear. ( it is a real struggle getting one of my cars on/off the drive). It had only 812 miles on the clock (1100 now) and this week was at Ascot having a service and an upgrade to IRIS 2
I am sure you all remember your first drive in one of these cars and I am sure like all you I was gobsmacked at how compliant and docile.it could be and even more gobsmacked when you put you foot down hard. The pops and chattering are addictive and I know I will not grow tired of them. I am totally smitten by this car!
I had arranged to meet a friend at the M27 services and he ran about 30 minutes late. Despite parking at the back end of the services I was amazed at how many people came over to ask about the car. I hope I get used to the attention but not sure if I like being filmed while crawling in M25 traffic.
The car is quite simply epic and I now have the pleasure of sorting out a trip to the Alps to give it a decent run and I am also considering doing a track day at Silverstone next month.
I am quite simply buzzing this evening??
