Wow, knew it was fast but this really puts it into perspective. 650S is just awesome

488 will whop it having driven one the Macca will be way behind :-)
I some how doubt it will whop it but its surely got to be able to keep up as the latest incarnation. Not sure how this reduced torque output effects the 488 performance lower down but it sure isn't going to help other than reducing the feel of lag and kick in the back
CS sounds awesome but F1 Gear change and performance are not really there by modern standards
Scuderia sounds awesome, F1 gear change is the best you can get in a single cutch car and suits the track feel and performance is a big step up on CS and good enough for british roads
Perfomante sounds bloody awesome with 2nd gear downshifts totally unreal. Performance and the 4 x 4 handling is great but a little agricultural in todays climate
650S sounds bloody marvellous for a turbo charge car although DIFFERENT to a normally aspirated vehicle. With sports exhaust it pops and burbles far more than 12C and is really loud above 6,000 rpm.
The performance, suspension and handling is simply the best out there at the moment.
So big is the gap over 458 the 488 seriously needs to do the business but even being the latest incarnation from Ferrari I'm not convinced it will have it all its own way or be a significant improvement over 650S

Sound is all part of the experience to me and I love the capristo on my F355. The Scuderia and Performante also both sound awesome.
The McLaren being turbo charged is different but in no way do I feel cheated or let down by the sound.
TBH my old 911 turbo with designtec titanium exhaust with 200 cell cats sounded good for a turbo car but like a wet fart and nothing like the 650S

Would the 458 Speciale vs 650S not be a more appropriate comparison?
In performance terms the speciale is closer to the McLaren 650s but still outdone despite it being a stripped out racer version which means its actually competing against 675LT which is in another league again. With the 2 brands out of sync in terms of model changes you can never get a like for like and I don't expect Ferrari would really welcome it either

Head to head 650 vs Speciale in our recent outing was not close, in real terms road conditions, rolling in gear acceleration especially at higher speeds the Mac totally monsters the Speciale
There is no doubt the McLaren 650S has a good performance advantage over Ferrari 458 vanilla or speciale version even so therefore the only comparison can be drawn against the newer model 488.I gather even given the 2 year newer model advantage for ferrari this is very close but given the price premium ( + 40% circa £70k )and waiting list surely the McLaren is the better buy.
