Hi all.

Hard to believe my spider turns 6yrs old in June.

Can anyone please advise what they have been charged for the 6th year service at a Macdealer?

I appreciate specialists are doing a great job now but we only have 1 main dealer up this way so interested to see what the spread is in prices that have been offered by MD's.

Once again, I shall not be adding the warranty; it would have to be an epic failure to be cost more than I have saved on warranty costs, and so far I have had no issues apart from cracked windscreens that McLaren supplied 3 of on goodwill.

I'm sure Bispal posted costs before but I cannot find what thread it was on.

Thanks in advance.

I did read somewhere that Mcbrum are doing discounts for cars 5years and older but again I can’t seem to find it anywhere.
We go to the same place for servicing and they are never the greatest for offering discounts.

The black 675 spider you posted a pic of is a pretty special car and local to me.. Will probably get in touch with him and see if it was indeed in for a service.

Still love your VY track pack...

So the 6th service includes a brake fluid change on top of everything else.

Coming in at £1355 inc vat.

Seems in the ballpark to previous posters.

Thanks for all input.

That seems to be about right.

My cousin just paid £3,500 for an oil change on his Performante, make the McLaren's seem excellent value.

You off to Guildford?
No Bispal; Glasgow.

Well, it had to happen at some point.

After over 2 years of behaving itself impeccably, my 675 decided to burst a hose when I used the lift for the first time in about a year.

Apparently, it's linked to dampers and the power steering.

Repair cost has been quoted around £600.

This happened when it was being collected for its service, which being its 6th birthday, cost was just over £1300.

A full warranty inspection was undertaken with nothing raised, but a corroded wiper arm was noted and the carbon effect centre caps are just starting to fail, so decided to replace them also.

With that, I have decided again not to spend a fortune on the warranty, and self warrant.

Just over 3000miles since its service last year, and, gasp, the car stays outdoors for convience of use.

On a footnote, I still have never plugged it into its charger.

I thought McLarens were supposed to be made of chocolate...;)

Just fantastic cars.love

Where are you getting the center caps - McLaren? Cost?

I had my wheels refurbed last week and the refurb place considered mine tatty enough that they weren't sure I'd want them refitted..... So think I need some new ones too.

Struggled to find any online though (I want carbon effect again with silver tick, but mine seem to be 46mm across which appears to be the less common size)
Birmingham. Around £140 for all 4 fitted.

Might be wrong but I am sure I have seen them more expensive on ebay.

I spoke to the 'flying doctor' at V late last year about the bushes on the suspension, and when he told me their service prices and what the charge would be to collect and deliver in a covered trailer from my east coast of Scotland location, I have to say I am very tempted for this year.

I just have to weigh it up as the guys and gals at Glasgow have always been fantastic to me.

I would appreciate if more Mac owners would post up their experiences at V and their attention to detail so I can make a more informed choice.thumbup

Out of interest do you have an outdoor car cover if so where from ?
No, only an unused indoor cover.

The car is fully PPF'd and the only issues I ever have are the black mesh grills which can start to discolour; I keep on top of that with the black wax liquid shoe polish as it makes them instantly black again and gives a protective layer of wax film whilst being unbelievably easy to apply.

I think the longest I have left it between use is about 3 weeks and the battery still had about 35% charge.

Having the tracker deactivated most likely assists with that as Admiral my insurer did not insist on that as a requirement.

As an update for any owners, my 7th service is due in July and my mac dealer has today quoted me £768 all in, and shall honour that even though its in nearly 4mths time.

How does that compare with any other owners using a main dealer for a 7yr service?

As appealing as V engineering is, it's not the price difference required for me to change.

On a footnote, they said that the extended warranty special discount offers for 1 & 2 years that are being banded about at the moment can only be offered by them on cars that are immediately coming out of the 3 year manufacturers warranty; it cannot be applied to older cars.

Maybe different with other dealers, but not Glasgow or Leeds.
