Hybrid or Full Electric?

Recently retired and will shortly be in the market for a change of cars. We now live locally to my family but my wife's relatives are 250 miles away and our Daughter lives in Germany.
Question is I was prepared to pay between 10/13k for a newish Leaf and maybe another 5/7k on a second car as I play a lot of golf, so definitely need two cars. I'm now in two minds between a Leaf or a Prius or better still open to more suitable suggestions?
I thought my mind would of been made up after organising a weeks test drive of a Leaf, but due to terrible customer service it didn't happen, so have no experience of full electric cars.

Thought about, and fancy an Ampera, but costs used seem high for my budget and wouldn't leave a lot for a second car. They all seem to be through dealerships and not many private sales where a possible deal could be done.
If I could convince the other half that a small runner may be good enough for short local trips it could be the perfect solution. We could then use the Ampera for the longer trips. Reading up on it though they don't seem to be that economical on long distant trips compared to say, a Prius.
