There are some excellent deals available on Leaf at the moment which I thought might be of interest to users on this forum. The deals are based on cars delivered before the end of this month, so you would need to be quick.

I ordered my car yesterday and delivery is in 2 weeks, so there is still time.

I was originally looking for a deal based on £500 deposit and £150 / month based on a 2 year PCP deal.

In the end I decided to increase my deposit in order to reduce the total cost of the 2 years of the agreement (I think it saved around £100 in interest).

Deposit = £1800
Rental = £95.78 x 24
Total payable for 2 years = £4098.72

This is based on 6000 miles, buy/buy, 3.3kw Tekna, flame red. There was no other admin fees on this deal e.g. no £150 at the start of the end.

The Tekna, for people not familiar, is the highest specification version of the Leaf. It comes with leather, sat nav, bose stereo, all round camera, heated heats and steering wheel etc. Basically it is a nice spec car.

The dealer I chose was Matt @ Shepperton, WLMG, who was excellent. However, most of the dealers I spoke with could do similar deals.

I am using NuWorld energy for the home charger as they can install a 32a charger but with a tethered Type 1 cable paid by the OLEV grant.

At the end of the 2 years, I will just hand the car back.

The deal is based on a "buy/buy" which is Nissan speak for saying the battery isn't rented and is 'purchased' at the same time as the car (albeit that the car is still being financed).

So, the total price you pay, for 2 years use of the car, based on 6000 miles per year is £4098.72.

The Acenta is a bit cheaper, but I wasn't interested in that spec of car; I was only interested in the Tekna.

Honestly, this deal is in my opinion brilliant. The true depreciation cost of the car is much higher than the total ownership cost, because Nissan are underwriting the value to a large degree, to help get them registered.

If you convert the price I paid into an equivalent £500 deposit + monthly payment, it is equal to £500 + £150 / month on a 2 year deal. This is similar to the best Zoe deals from December last year, but the Leaf is a more expensive car with more equipment.

The deal on my leaf I've just picked up was £230 per month with £0 deposit/arrangement fee on a Tekna, non-flex, 10,000 miles, colour flame red(no cost option). Total cost £5520...

Sales guy mentioned they had to shift another 4 leafs before the end of March to avoid a big hit on their overall dealership bonus. Thus suspect as above you'll be able to get better deals than I did :-(
I think with these type of niche cars, the deals are definitely better as you get to the crunch time of each quarter.

I had a dealer mention their quarterly bonus from Nissan was worth £140k, and if they didn't hit the Leaf numbers, they wouldn't get anything. Whether this is quite true or not I don't know, but it does partly explain the strange deals at the end of the quarter (rather like the deal on the Twizy which is mention on another thread).

Personally, I think the price you have paid at £230 / month with no deposit is still a very good deal for a Tekna spec Leaf.

I worked on the basis that, once you factor in the free home charger and the reduced petrol cost, it is an ideal car for the school run type of driving.

Well you guys have certainly messed me up because I thought I was being offered descent prices here in Somerset, but now I'm not so sure!
I'm after 2 of them as well, so if any dealers are needing to shift another two before the end of this quarter, drop me a pm.
I would suggest calling Ben at Bristol Street Motors / Derby on 01332 375360.

Ben was happy to deliver the car to my door from Derby to West London at no cost, which might be useful to you in Somerset.

I used Matt at WLMG in Shepperton who is very good. His number is 01932 237144

If nothing else, it gives you some leverage with your existing dealer, to see what they are competing against.

Everyones coming out of the woodwork now!
Matts deal is certainly one of the best out there.
Howards of WSM and JFE of Exeter have offered Tekna with Mett paint on 6000 miles/PA for £1600 deposit and 24 months £150
Matt over in London as per the Ops initial post is trying to get the same deal as the Ops but with Mett paint and 8000 miles/PA so payments will probably be closer to the £125 mark with £2k deposit.
We shall wait and see as hopefully I want this wrapped up by the end of play tomorrow.

So that will be 2x EV's offsetting the carbon footprint of the Cerbera, reckon thats enough? biggrin
Excellent news! Sounds like you are well on the way to getting the right deal for you.

I'm actually strangely looking forward to getting a leaf. There are perhaps not the most exciting cars in the world, but I still quite like the idea of an electric car.

Hope he said good things! Quickest deal he's ever done, gave him the deposit as I was walking into a meeting, the call was well under 5 mins!
Made me chuckle. Nice one!

A heads-up for anyone still looking for a leaf deal.

Ben and Derby Nissan 01332375360 can offer the following:

Nissan Leaf - Tekna Flame Red (standard colour)
£95.78 pm over 24 months on a PCP deal
Deposit £1800+ £149 document fee
8K miles Per annum
3.3KW

Brilliant deal for anyone looking for a leaf!
Think you'll find this is £149 more than the deal I quoted to start this thread smile

The £149 document fee is the difference.

Hi there,

Anyone any ideas as to what straight forward cash deals are out there ?
I'd be interested why you would go down this route, even as a company purchase. I looked at it, but couldn't see how it would work, for two main reasons;

i) The Nissan PCP deals are heavily subsided, not just at the front end in terms of the purchase price, but also at the back end with 'optimistic' RVs.

ii) There is a degree of uncertainty in terms of what an owned EV will be worth in 2 years time, as new technology comes along.

This is why a 2 year PCP deal is much better value for money, despite taking into account the 100% write off in your cooperation tax you would get if you purchased the car outright.

crikey... 35k miles per year in a Leaf sounds very ambitious.

I would have thought an i3 might be a better solution, allowing more range/journey flexibility for this kind of annual mileage?

I can see thought why at this mileage you would want to buy the car rather than PCP.

£1800 deposit and £77.12 a month over 2 years

Nissan Birkenhead - ask for Steve
Great work!

Presume that is for the Tekna at 6000 miles per year?

Yes - was yours 7500 ? maybe same deal then lol, they are "forcing" a second charge point at my house for me ie as I have one already they said they will ensure I get a second.
My order was for 6000 miles, so you actually did a bit better than me smile

All is good though and at least by posting up our deals, we are helping those who follow in our EV footsteps smile

I still can't get over how cheap these are.

Plus Nissan are giving the 14 days of free hire car per year. If you assume hire car cost is £35 / day, this is worth around £1000 over the course of 2 years.

Are the deals quoted above all you pay?
Short answer is yes, it is all you pay.

The dealer is taking about a 'flex' deal when you hire the batteries. However, the deals quoted above are called 'non flex' or buy/buy and so there are no battery rental cost.

The PCP point is a bit of a red herring. You can take the car on PCP either as a flex i.e. battery rental is extra, or as a PCP buy/buy, when the cost of the battery is included in the PCP deal.

I would just point your dealer at this thread and ask them to match/beat the best deals listed. Whether they will or not will depend upon whether they have already sold their leaf allocation for this quarter.

I did that at another Nissan dealer, they suggested that the deals quoted were probably employee discounts... When I ordered mine the salesman said the current offers were better than the employee offers usually are.

Something else he said (and I don't know how true it is) was the whole dealer bonus hangs on meeting the targets for the Leaf- they may sell double their target for all other models but if they don't meet the one for the Leaf they don't get anything.
I was told the same thing that the dealer has to reach their Leaf target else they risk their whole quarterly bonus. I think it is the most likely reason for the good deals at the end of the quarter. Plus Nissan are churning out a lot of Leaf at the moment from Sunderland so the cars need to find homes.

In terms of the prices, how the dealer tweaks things in their system to be competitive is a matter for them. In my PCP deal, the only paperwork I have signed is the completely regular stuff - I certainly haven't signed anything to suggest I might have become an employee of Nissan smile
