Seeking Le Mans Advice

I will be staying near Perpignan in June, around the time of 24hr Le Mans (a total coincidence as i keep telling the wife!). I want to head up to Le Mans on friday and return on sunday evening and i will have two of my kids with me (ages 6 & 8). I have been looking at the different travel options and driving seems to be the only viable option as train/flights are over €400 and i am on a fairly tight budget. I have a tent with me so i was going to book into one of the campsites at the track.
I have never been to Le Mans am unfamiliar with the set up so i would be grateful for any advice anyone might have in particular in relation to the following:
Are the campsites suitable for kids?
Are grandstands seats essential to get a proper view of the racing/viewing screens?
If i am arriving to a campsite on friday afternoon/evening is traffic very heavy getting to the circuit?

Friday night will be busy but if you get a campsite with a reserved plot then you should be fine.
Grandstand view is not essential at all, you can get some great spots all round the circuit and i personally have never felt the need to have grandstand seating.

Have a look at a few of the operators that can sell you a camping plot, such as tickets2u etc, it's a bit late to get one of the better sites but i'm sure they will have something available. Also beermountain.com have a section on their site where they reviewed most of the campsites, not sure when it was last updated but it helps know what each site is like in terms of whether you stand a chance of getting any sleep!

Few munis south within 30 mins of Mulsanne/Carnage,...... le lude, vaas,mansigne of top of head.
Spend Sat at circuit, Sunday at south of circuit for easy getaway?

Gonna be a long drive but have been thinkin about it since i heard that Porsche are comming back so will be worth it! Good pointg about going south on Sunday, will keep that in mind.

Friday can be a bit lively on the roads round the circuit - be aware of this.

Will keep em close. Been there before... missed Jenson Button in his F1 car driving through the streets of Dublin cuz my son HAD TO GO!!
