You can watch it on a Freeview box as we did last year with a sat dish. It's free on Eurosport Germany, we just listened to the audio on radio LM (a bit out of sync though). I don't know if it will be on Eurosport Germany again this year, fingers crossed it will be!
Here are the satellite and channel details I had saved in my phone from last year, sorry about the formatting:

I'd just like to say, finding that bloody satellite has been a nightmare! I tried last year with two freesat type boxes (one bought in Super U) and was unable to get it going camped on Bleu Nord. I am using a nice big dish on a tripod with a sat finder but just didn't wanna know. Will give it a go again in the garden at home and try again this year. Anyone got any tips, gladly received!
I did the same on Bleu Nord and it was a piece of piss! Found it first time and flipped the dish between the UK freeview satellite and the Astra one and no problem at all. 1st tickets had problems with theirs that I tried to help to fix but could find the satellites with their setup either. You could try a better dish possibly?
I struggled year before last. Tried everything, then decided to pop to Carrefour, bought a new LNB for 20Euro and hey presto. Immediately.
I keep a spare now.
Cheap crappy electronics.
From BN, there cannot be many obstructions, so would suggest you do the same.
I also bought a 1 mtr dish. Makes it a lot easier.

I fixed a new satellite up at my brothers and spent ages trying to get a signal then discovered the brand new LNB was faulty! Always worth trying a spare.
For Le Mans last year we took a bigger dish (due to the signal strength over europe being reduced from previous years) and added a dual LNB (with an adjustable offset with 2 separate LNBs) so one cable picked up british sky and the other one picked up German eurosport so only had to change the tv input to watch a different satellite. Worked really well and no climbing on the back of the motorhome to try and adjust the dish after too many beers
One tip that might help is to leave the freesat box with the preset channels set as the uk and instead use a sky box to find the best signal then swap back to the freesat box once the correct satellite i.d. shows up on the sky signal strength page. Then manually add german eurosport details into the freesat system knowing the dish is pointing in the right direction. When I've tried to find the satellite with just the freesat box it's been a nightmare

If you get a chance to re-format it sometime it would be great, I am starting at the beginning with all this so don't understand a lot of the jargon.
Hope Germany do the same this year too!!!

The rest should drop into place
For easier positioning use a Sky Satellite Box, connect it to TV and place TV so you can see the screen while you move the dish about:
With a Sky HD box - press services button on remote, then spanner symbol, then signal, this should show you strength bars and network i.d. / transport stream codes once the dish is fixed correctly. After a while the sky will reset so you'll have to go through the process of getting it back up on screen via services button again!
With an older sky box - press services button, 4 system setup, 6 signal test to show codes and strength of signal. Again after a while the sky will reset so you'll have to go through the process of getting it back up on screen via services button again!
Watch out for these network id's and transport stream codes while adjusting dish, once they lock gently adjust the dish to get best signal strength / quality
Astra 2 at 28.2'E
(sky with british eurosport - you'll need a sky card linked to the box to get any pay sky channels/ uk eurosport,
free ones will appear anyway on a sky box or a freesat box)
Network ID is 0002
Transport Stream is 07d4
Astra 1 at 19.2'E (for german eurosport - once you've positioned the dish you'll need to input: Frequency - 12226 H, FEC - 27500 manually on the freesat box and maybe enable non freesat channels via the menu)
Network id = 0001
Transport Stream = 042c
Hope this helps anyone who's a bit stuck

Yeah that's what I did and it worked a treat. I've got a tiny little HD freeview box and it responds really quickly. Set the satelite you want to receive and then it takes about 10 seconds to lock onto it and set the dish, fingers crossed it's that easy this year. I think I'll take a spare LNB though based on the sound advice going round on here.
I had a little play over the weekend with the setup in the garden.
I have a 76cm x 56cm dish setup on a tripod, with as far as I am aware a brand new LNB (though it does says its for Sky?). This was then running to a Ross HD Satellite Receiver - nothing fancy at all!
I beleive I had the dish pointed in the right place, using a sat finder app on my phone. Trying to get the box to find channels was the main problem. The signal strength was at 99% however, the quality indicator was at 0. Which was weird. The box was setup to look for Astra 19.2 L and I fiddled with the transponder settings as suggested above but still got nothing. Granted, I know next to bugger all about Satellite TV but I'm pretty sure I had it rigged up correctly. I tried changing the cable, I also have a spare receiver box bought in Super U, but no joy on that either.
As suggested above, I have a new LNB on its way just in case thats the culprit. Any other suggestions?

I use a angle meter app on my phone to measure the elevation angle of the arm on the front of the dish but you have to remember to deduct the degrees for the dish offset (where the signal reflects off the dish and back to the LNB). Usually 22 to 25 degrees. Sometimes if your lucky a scale of the degrees allowing for this are marked on the back of the mount but because mines fixed to a pole at Le Mans I have to work it out myself.
You can also try changing the skew angle of the LNB to improve signal quality. There's usually markings on the side showing + and - positions.
If you have an old sky box then follow my instructions above as the sky signal page gives you a lot of info when trying to get the right signal.
Good luck

As a bit of an update to this...
I finally managed to get German Eurosport working in the garden at home. It seems the mobile app I had to find the satellite was a little misleading and didn't properly take the dish offset in to account. I found another app and found the right offset measurement (I think) which meant the dish was now pointing at the satellite properly (a lot lower in the sky than thought previously). The thing that really did the business however, was a buying a sat finder tool off eBay for £7. This little thing is digital rather than analogue and actually had decent instructions on how to use it. So after getting it roughly in the right place, a few tweaks with the sat finder tool to dial it in, bingo! One slight annoyance I found, was that my receiver does not show the "quality" strength in real time, so after all the faffing about with the dish, the receiver would not change signal strength until I actually tried to find the sat which again was very misleading. Just make sure you have the correct transponder settings and the like which are easily found here. I am a complete novice with satellites but finally got there.
For reference, I am using a cheap Ross HD Satellite receiver, that was part of a kit from B&Q from a few years ago. A 76cm x 56cm dish, mounted to a tripod. A cheap TV and a long length of decent cable. The lot will be powered off of an inverter running from our van, or possibly a small generator. It doesn't use an awful lot of power.
So after buying 3 LNB's (thinking this was the fault), making new cables and a lot swearing. I have reached the conclusion that a sat finder tool is a must. With this, its an absolute piece of piss! Quality was excellent and can't wait for Le Mans now

were you the guys in the corner of the ph/1st tickets site with their own sat dish? Did you power this off a 12v inverter?Gassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
