How to view at Mulsanne straight

This year will be my third, but I haven't yet viewed the cars on the Mulsaane straight

I know a large proportion of it is off-limits, but can anyone suggest a decent spot to get a view of the cars at speed (rather than just in the braking zone for Mulsanne corner

We're camping at PorscheCurves, and we'll have bikes with us, so a bit of a trek is ok to get to a decent spot - I'm guessing just before either chicane will be the most spectacular.

Is it better to try during Thursday night practice? Are the Gendarmes any less enthusiastic outside of the race?
