Oh dear, I'm very sorry. Once is never enough. My partner and I went for the first time to an endurance race in 2018, it was the 12Hrs of Silverstone and we had an absolute BLAST. We pitched up at Woodlands campsite which is next to the track, and the whole thing was just the most fun we'd had together at an event. C19 comes along, we wait it out, and in 2022 we started to look again at more WEC motorsport events, but the 12hrs of Silverstone has been cut to 6Hrs.This was too short we felt and wasn't worth the money or the camping out over the weekend. Up pops The Daddy, Le Mans. We duly booked it, attended just for the weekend and were left both exhausted and enthralled. We have to go back. 2023 arrives, and it's not just any old La Mans, it's now the Centenary! We go all in, we turn up on the Monday and pitch a tent. We spend the next 8 days living the life of riley, making friends, drinking beer /wine, speaking terrible Franglish and immersing ourselves from head to foot in the glory of the event. The race ends, we have to go home, and we're very sad. We have to go back.

So here I am, tickets in hand, everything booked and a stupid grin on my face at the anticipation of the wonderful joyous four days in what genuinely feels like my spiritual home.
I first went in 2013 with 3 friends (one of whom was there when Bentley won)....I’ve been every year since (Covid excepting). We sticker the cars, annoy our other halves for about 2 months before (due to start shortly as the planning/excitement ramps up), vow to never camp again as the showers are small etc. (it’s not camping it’s “glamping” etc etc) and are planning for next year before we’re even on the ferry on the way back. One of my friends openly admitted it’s the best holiday of the year he has (even better than his family holiday) yes We even spread the word and bring friends who’ve never been before so we can allow them to experience the incredible event.

It’s BLOODY BRILLIANT thumbup and Pistonheads were responsible for my now annual over excitement/obsession as I read an article which started it all about them and their partner 1st Tickets - Brian and his team run a good private camp site and tolerate our over excited behaviour and that of many others!!!

Anyway, now 97 days to go (and where is the countdown clock please @Pistonheads??!!) I must remember to read the “Sock Story again” and plan when/where we go to watch certain parts of the race (if you know, you know wink )
