Hi all, apologies if in wrong place,

I'm looking at a Subaru Outback tomorrow I've been offered for under 5k. 2008 model, full Subaru history, seems never to have wanted for anything. It's a good 2k or more below others i have seen for sale at that age.

The only worry I have is the mileage, a few shades off 200k!

I've had a nose, and people seem to think they can go way beyond 300k with proper maintenance. Can any owners give me some input at all?

It's either that, or also looking at a new shape focus estate, 1.6tdi edge, 2011, with 90k, for a few hundred more.

Head says focus, heart says the subaru!

Distance i travel for work varies, some days only a 30 mile round trip, another 130 , another, 240. But do need an estate, good on fuel (only get 15ppm from work) carry st, take dogs out, plus live in a village where in winter i get stuck! (although Mondeo has always been reasonably good for this)

Thanks

W

Current mondeo is on 270k on all original parts injector clutch turbo etc

As long as it's go proof it's been maintained it will be fine
Thanks Rob, but my Mondeo, although only on 145k now, and after having just spent shedloads on it, needs new DMF, clutch, flywheel and possibly starter. Although i love the hearse to bits, I'm loathed to spend another 900 on it, after just spending 550 on it, when worth 2-2.5k at a push I suppose.

Thanks all,
Focus scratched, looking at Outback tomorrow.

After looking will decide whether to buy it, or put a new dmf, clutch and flywheel on ol' faithful!

If I get the outback, I'll sell the Mondeo as it is. Perfect runner now, but it needs a dmf. Hopefully get some cash back for the money ive just spent on it.

Thanks
