Went to look at a car today, talking to the salesman abouthe part-exing mine. Offered me a decent price, about to go out for a test drive and the phone rings. Boss man doesn't want my car as part exchange.

It's a '59 plate, full main dealer service history, 12 month MOT, never had an advisory, good cosmetic condition, new front tyres, brakes and battery. So not something they would have to put a lot of money in to, at least. But no, wouldn't have it.

Is this a normal thing? I was a bit gutted really.

It's a 1.8 Civic.

They possibly have had issues shifting similar models in the past?

Actually, it is a Dealer ploy to eventually low ball you on your trade-in...

That's the only thing I could think of.

Oh well, guess it is normal. Never done a PX before you see. Thanks.

Slightly off topic :-

I went into Lancaster Mazda yesterday with my 7 year old boy to see the new MX-5 hardtop. I took his picture standing by the car. Nobody came to talk to me about the new car.

I was half way out of the exit & a salesman rushed over & demanded to see the photo's I'd taken telling me it's against company policy to take photo's of cars in the showroom. I was miffed but showed him my photo's & hopefully proved that I wasn't a spy from Toyota.

Then I went into their Honda showroom next door to see the new Civic & there was a cardboard cut-out of Button & Alonso. My boy being a huge F1 fan wanted his photo taken by this cardboard cutout. No, they wouldn't allow it. Company policy.

Has the corporate world gone mad!

Remaining off topic, that MX-5 is gorgeous.
