I searched to see if this has been covered on here but appears not. A person claiming to be called Alan is showing interest in used cars and then insists upon the seller buying a vehicle report from reportsverifier.co.uk before they come to view the car.
Its a phishing scam to get people to put their details into the website. See trustpilot, there are other reports but very few, so looks to be very new.
Stay vigilant!

This is why i dont use forums any more. People so jaded by all the repetitive topics that they come across as nothing but sarcastic and unhelpful.

I haven’t sold a used car for a long time, so im not up on the latest scams. I dont use the forums any more for the above reason. This scam links to a website that looks extremely authentic!

Thankfully i wasnt actually caught out by the scam, but that was only because I don’t believe its the sellers job to provide a vehicle check. I didn’t go far enough down the road to see if there were any warning signs on the site. The person who actually makes the enquiry gets you talking and is quite disarming. Anyone who might have decided to pay for the check in order to get the car sold, i can see it would have caught them out.

Anyway, i hope if anyone searches this before they go ahead, sees this and realises its a scam.

So just because someone is tech savvy enough to use a forum and post a sale add online, they are supposed to be able to spot fake websites as easily as you can?

I though the site looked very sketchy and had no intention of using it, but not everyone is going to think that. You get sucked in to potential of selling the car very quickly and easily and the idea of just buying that report in order to get the sale done seems like a good idea at the time.

I saw that this particular scam wasnt coming up when i searched the forum, so I thought id be “helpful” to anyone who took the time to search first.

Anyway thanks for proving my point about the level of responses on here.🤦🏻‍♂️
