20k budget, do a 220 mile e/w journey regularly, plus highish mileage, so seeking car with sub 35k/40k miles

Initial scan says e220 or v90 d4 - which would you take + any other suggestions?

Must be at least mid sized, 4 pot derv ok as more efficient.

Already have twin turbo flat six and a supercharged v8 for fun

Ive found a later shape e220d amg line 66 plate 2017 car as per the links you added, at a mb dealership, in silver with the widescreen dash and premium pack, 30k miles for £19300

Ive also been offered a 2019 v90 momentum, volvo dealership,, 33k miles, 2 years warranty and servicing inclusive

Volvo is 2 years newer, has full leather seats and better autonomous tech

Mercedes is nicer looking, on paper its more efficient, has a nicer interior and twin sunroofs

Checking BMW now - Im just wondering a3.0L diesel 6GT or A7 would be any better

Wife says it cant be a saloon as we've 2 small dogs - if not for that id just buy a 7 series, S class or A8

V90 in either D4 or D5 in either Momentum or Inscription trim.

All V90s have Pilot Assist which makes for a very relaxing motorway drive.

I agree, that’s nice, but Volvo main dealers throwing in 2 years warranty and servicing which is a nice to have…..

I'd take the E Class over the V90, the 6GT is a very good car but I think you'll struggle to find one under budget.
If I up the budget what’s the very best way to waft down the motorway, must be estate, big hatch or perhaps suv.

If you are considering an A8 you should check out its competitors (7-series, S-Class) as well?
The a8 seems better value than a s class - bmw 7 series seems a bit more dated - but both in 23-25k range at main dealers.

So you've dropped the 4-pot diesel criterion? And the estate one?
4 pot wasn’t really criteria, more not bothered if 4 or 6.

More about long distance comfort.

Estate is better, or large hatch / suv.

But sting in an a8 earlier confirmed it was immediately way more comfortable than an a6 avant and a bit better than a e class estate

Tesla model 3 long range with a home charger
Will it do a 440 trip without charging ?
I can charge on arrival, but when you factor in the 80-20% guidance the current ionic 5 needs to stop once in both directions, plus be charged on departure and arrival.

Having reflected on this i'm leaning towards the 2017 / 66 plate, 35k miles, e220 amg line wagon i've found at a main dealer for under £20k.

The A8 is better, but it's difficult with 2 dogs and a heap less practical.

the cls would still be the best 'waft'.
Is it not just a chopped roof version of the e-class or old e-class or am I missing something?
