Hi

Looking for some help on this change

Currently have a 2019 530e - It is a great car but I need to change soon as my annual mileage will be going up by almost 2.5x.

With the tiny fuel tank and circa~ 30mpg average, it will get quite expensive to run. Not to mention, insurance is renewing soon and the price for the 530 has gone up by 40% (Even if i change insurer)

My budget is a bit tricky, as I'll be financing the car but essentially;

- 2021 or newer = £30k
- Between 2018 - 2021 = £22-23k

Requirements are:

- Upgraded sound system
- Carplay already included or should be able to be coded
- Not a hatch
- Electric Memory seats
- RWD/AWD
- Ideally reasonable road tax

Options I'm considering:

- 2018 530D (Somehow cheaper on Insurance)
- 2019-2021 Audi A5
- 2018 - 2019 E220D (Coupe), I'd love the bigger engine but they're all out of budget
- G20 320d - Again, I'd want the 6cyl with this but theyre out of budget and finding the right trim is tough.

Looking for any opinions on the above & any other suggestions I may have forgotten - Thank you

Your mileage is going up 2.5x but I can see that you have mentioned what that mileage is? If it's 5k/year going up to 12.5k/year then the saving from going to a higher mpg car is going to take an enormous amount of time to recoup the cost of change. If your current mileage is 20k and going to 50k then it's a slightly different story...
Whilst MPG is a major factor, it's also the (Very) small fuel tank and the fact my insurance is going up significantly on this car - I have shopped around and even the cheapest quote is significantly more than what I am paying now. In comparison, most of those cars above are either a) what I am paying now or b) less.

My mileage is going up from c.8k PA to approx 20k PA, so not a huge jump.

At this point, Im just considering what other options I have - If ultimately I have to keep the car, I can make it work.

Probably should have added that I don't really get to charge it that often - However, that is set to change as we are getting a wall plug fitted for my partners EV soon.

Will see how the MPG improves with the charging
