All,

I've been looking for some replacement fasteners for my clams for ages and finally I found them after a week of searching:-

http://www.milspecproducts.com/product/c-spec-2600...

I think it is MS2600-7S $2.60 each (please correct me if I am wrong)

The restrictive thing is the postage at $43 its more than double the price of a full set of fasteners

Group buy anyone??? Happy to do all the legwork everyone just pays the post equally and onward shipping .....unless our US based colleagues have a better way?

Have also posted on the FB Page

Will wait 10 days before I do anything to see how many responses we get.

Related question: I switched to AeroCatches and want to remove the factory parts. I'm wondering how big and ugly the resulting holes will be.
Jeff
It's the size of the inside of the clam fastener (if you look at the drawing I posted its the part marked 248), it's not bonded either its held on with circlips but you'd need to grommet or fill and paint the hole for sure can post a pic if you want to see it.

Is this for both the top and bottom part? South west lotus charge £30 each for these, nearly killed me when I needed 1 quickly!!
If final price is reasonable then I'm in for the group buy
It was SW Lotus that made me look elsewhere

You can buy the bottoms if you want, but I only need the top parts, happy to include in the overall purchase smile

If its the same ones patsrocket good find, someone did mention Trident to me on FB but I thought they were only anodised... If they are full on Stainless ones they'll do the job....unless I can relieve you of your spares smile

Must admit AndyGTT did say he's bear clipped his so when you shut down the clam it stays shut.... (its expensive when it flips open on the move...and embarrassing) I will change mine at some point, the replacement fasteners are just an interim measure.

Feck me!!! (and I don't swear that often) The guy at Trident is a complete a$$ furious I've phoned him 3 times and 3 times he's just made stuff up about me contacting him, 1st he says we've spoken and I say we've not so he says we're getting nowhere and puts the phone down, so I send him detailed pics and explain what I want, I call him, he says why don't you send me a picture of what it is, I sigh and say yes I'll do that. So I resend the pictures and then leave it a couple of days and phone him and he says why don't you go to Noble, I say because you sell them cheaper, he says I asked you what the number on the top of the fastner I say you did? OK sorry I say (I don't know why) its 7 I say so he says I'll send you some.....and then he puts the phone down.....how?! he doesn't even have my address or payment shoot

Hahaha! I know this should not be funny but I may have an answer - I saw your thread, my 3R is in bits for a winter refurbishment, I need new lower clam fastenings, phoned Trident, went through what I want, he could not understand, he took my address and sent through a catalogue, he must be confused, one minute he is talking to me, the next you... if I get some bits in the post I'll let you know... by the way their lower part is fixed and not adjustable depth so no use]
LMAO!! Bleedin stupid old fool!! Cheers Steve, its the washer (if you can call it that) that recesses into the top of the clam, the top fastener and the circlip that I need, mine are looking a bit shabby (8 to be precise) biggrin

Hey Steve / Bondy - Just been on their site...it is like finding a needle in a haystack so many sizes and parts I don't want to order the wrong part and I can't get the shipping details out of the site either, maybe we need to speak to Noble directly and get the part numbers from them, doubt they are going to give us their UK stockist though and I'm certainly not paying £30 per item from SWLC.

If they only sell the entire items though we can split some of them as Steve only needs the recepticles and I only need the fastener/clips

I could do with a set of screws mine are a bit shabby, poss have to have whole top section to make it work ....would I ?
In the previous images that I posted (from SWLC's site) the washer that recesses into the top of the clam and the top fastener are separate items, but on mine its one (see attached from my rear clam), so would have to ensure the three top bits are purchased (above and circlip) will take a look at what Steve has indicated in the catalogue and circle back

4002 Series (40s5 is Philips) #7
4002 N3 Grommet
Circlip - I could not find that one..

Need to make sure I am right as I can't take another berating from that old bloke at Trident smile

I have to say it !
Is all this trouble really worth it when the parts are readily available at actually a realistic price ? When you consider the work involved & the quality of them at £37.13 each is it really that bad, if lifes that tough why did you by a Noble - getmecoat
£300 is a chunk of change to explain away for 8 screws! argue

I did have a look on that site and hitting the same brick wall, the issue I was finding was I was never exactly sure which was the right size/fit and I was not going to travel from Surrey to Northampton for a couple of fasteners. I will probably get them the next time I visit my brother, he lives in Northampton so its on the way....but, it you manage to get them of course please let me know smile

I got mine for the U.S. I probably have the invoice somewhere if someone is interested.
Andrew, aren't the postage charges extortionate, that's one of the reasons I gave up on that route?
