US-based M400, was driving around like a normal person, shifted from 1st to 2nd. Caught a red light. pushed the clutch in, would not let me shift out of 2nd.

Limp her home, could physically move the shift mechanism on the gearbox out of gear and into neutral, but shifter won't let me shift into anything but even-numbered gears. When in gear, can't pull it out of gear with the shifter.

Anyone experience this? Is this a shift linkage adjustment or a gearbox out fix?

With the shifter cableS disconnected can you easily select all gears by hand on the gearbox? If so the problem is with the linkage.

Check to see if your cables have degraded or snagged or kinked on anything
I didn't try with the linkage disconnected, but, I was able to push the levers around with some effort on the gearbox.

Guess I have to order a linkage. Thanks for the help!

I hope it's something simple... but, yeah, the even-numbered gears are pulling on the lever on the top of the gearbox, while the odd-numbered push.
It seems that the cable doesn't push very well, but can pull fine.

If in gear, 2, 4, or 6th:
- Can't pull out of gear, cannot get into neutral.
- Can only get out of gear by using lever on gearbox.

If in gear, 1st, 3rd, or 5th:
- Can't put into gear with shifter, can only get into these gears with lever on top of gearbox.
- Can put into neutral and select 2nd, 4th, or 6th in the same movement; Once there, cannot move shifter into neutral.

Will it go into gear without the engine running ??????
Regardless of engine running/not running, the shifter functions the same.

I doubt it's the clutch, as I can disengage the clutch and the car will be in gear, at a stop and not stall. I just haven't gotten to the bottom of the shifter yet to see what's going on there. I have to cut an under tray =/

had a similar problem on mine turned out to be the rubber sleeve had come apart causing the cable to kink so put some j clips on to stop it popping off again
You were right on the money...

After cutting open the tunnel under the shifter, found my problem.

Now I need to find myself a shift linkage and do what you did. The linkage is pretty knackered.

They are a pretty crap design to be fair and I've just fitted the linkage upgrade! looks like you'll need to run a new cable as it looks damaged frown
Yep.
Anyone know where you get cables from? Another Noble owner mentioned sourcing them from a company that builds cables... but, figured there has to be a part number for it.
