I'm interested to hear what mods people have tried that actually made a real difference to your enjoyment of the car in the long term - i.e. beyond the initial novelty factor?

We do lots to these car to maintain reliability but once those are sorted, we tend start doing other things to make our cars 'better'. On past cars, I've done lots of upgrades which, after a short period of initial enjoyment, I've found I forgot ever happened - small increases to power are the most common of these.

To start things off, I switched to a smaller steering wheel and I think that really helped with the feel of the car.

I also switched to semi-slicks (Avon ZZR) and I really enjoy the extra grip on track. On the road it makes no difference at all though - there's no way I would drive on the road at the limit of adhesion of any tyre.

Other mods I've done (increased cooling, uprated pads) are great but they don't make the car any more fun - just more reliable.

I'm particularly interested in those who have upgraded brakes & suspension. But what other things have you done that continue to put a smile on your face?

And, in the interests of honesty, what have you done that hindsight tells you was probably a bit of a waste of money?
