Hi

I've recently noticed what can only be described as a scraping noise coming from the front passenger side wheel, when moving slowly. I'm sure it it always there, but at speed the engine noise is masking the sound. It seems to be consistent with the wheels turning, but I am no expert, so hope someone can let me know if it is something that should be keeping me up at night, and my wallet at the ready?

thanks

...ok so the noise is coming from the REAR passenger side wheel, and not the front as originally described.

I never got around to taking off, but at the weekend, I was driving home with a mate, and the soft scraping noise suddenly took a turn for the worst.

It transformed into a loud scraping noise, with the occasional whining noise, and other strange (metal on metal) noises. My mate opened the door while stationary, and i gently moved the car forward - hence realising sound came from rear passenger side.

We examined the brake pads without removing the wheel, and it looked ok. Mate thinks it must be a handbrake related issue - must admit it does sound like i was driving with it on, but know that it clearly wasn't.
I am waiting for mate to pop around when he is free, and to jack the car up for a proper look after removing the wheel.

Any ideas in the meantime?
thanks

for the purposes of closure on this issue....

I ended up having the AA take the car to Castle TVR in Stanstead to take a look.

It turned out to be the handbrake shoes had become loose, so these were tightened. For good measure, I had the nuts replaced with the Porsche Boxster nuts.

Very pleased with outcome...total cost inc a service was £400, so i am relatively pleased
thanks for all the advice..now i can enjoy the weekend
