Thinking about my 15/16 winter project. I've always thought the steering on my Royale Sabre was a bit heavy, not helped by the slightly wider wheels and a sprained/weakened shoulder. To be honest I've put off driving it a few times, the thought of the heavy steering meant I just couldn't pluck up the enthusiasm. The result is that since unSORNing the car in April this year I've just filled it up for the second time. So 400 miles in the year.

So this has got me seriously thinking about fitting power steering.

The sabre's all 1987 Ford Sierra based - steering and suspension - and a Focus 2litre Zetec engine on a type 9 gearbox if that's relevant.

Somebody mentioned that the MGF electric assisted steering "should" be a straightforward fit, but of course he's not going to be doing the job. Looking on Google it seems these EPAS units are notoriously unreliable. I can pick up a secondhand unit for c£75 but they're non user fixable and a new one is around £500

Anybody got any ideas or suggestions please. And no, a Charles Atlas body building course isn't relevant thanks
