I've been making some progress with my rear body over the last few weeks.....

I have to admit that the plywood spoiler and WD40 pylons are really growing on me and I might keep them in the final design

Thats a very nice offer and one I may well take you up on as I am seriously laking in the ability to doodle like you can.

Here is the latest iteration of the rear end.

Mark

Yes indeed I have taken design qu's from the Porsche GT, it is in fact the car I model my GTT on as it is good looking without being overly flamboyant like the pegani or Quirky like the enzo....... Pegani, Enzo, Keoniggsegg and Mclaren F1 all play a large part of my design as does of cause ultima which started me off

The little kit in the background is in fact an MK Indy with an R1 engine that Jon (above) convinced me I must have..... it isn't finished as I spend simply to much time on my GTT.
The biggest joke is that I bought the Indy to replace my Bike which is also in my garage waiting for me to replace the battery and sell.... This GTT has a lot to answer for

After quite a few hours playing with subtle shape changes I am much closer to something I like..... not quite there yet though.

I need to vent the rear, but just can't seem to decide how it will look.

The trouble with these mock ups is they look so flat, so I am going to make this rear over the weekend and mount my lights and then play with the grill etc.

I spend ages on my mock ups and you knock something together minutes that's miles better with depth an all.... I can see where you are going and I really like it.thumbup

originally i wanted the exhaust in the middle of the car more, however the chassis come out to the spoiler mounts (they attach to the chassis) so I had to move them out and unless they were under the lights (or twin) they just didn't look right.
I have to fabricate my own exhaust including the manifolds anyhow so I guess custom silencers won't be too big an issue.

I really like Davi's one above.... I think I'm going to try putting the rear vent where he has rather than the larger version I did.

Personelly I like the exhaust were they are (I guess thats why I put the there), I might lower them an inch or two.... If I put them lower and in the diffuser it may interupt the air flow and considering the speeds It will be capable of I want to minimise the amount of compromises I make in that respect.

Yes it does look close in the pictures, however there is in fact quite a bit of room and over 300mm from were the exhaust is shown to the tyre.

I will need to make my entire exhaust from scrtach as I plan a two stage exhaust with a rear silence bypass valve.... and this kind of extended curved rear tailpipe will lend itself nicelly to the design I have in mind.

I have been busy making the rear end over the last couple of weekends, due to some complex compound curves (I make nothing easy for myself) I have had to make formers just to make the buck.
But this is were I am now.

OK I am feeling a little hard done by today so am determined to turn the day around.

So on a possitive note I have finalised the rear end design of my car.....
I have taken the actual picture above and edited it in PSP until I was happy (with some refinement from our resident master Davi).

I am not sold on the drop rear wing idea... but it seems everyone agrees so its now on the list of things to do. Not quite sure I will be able to get one though as I had planned a large lightweight carbon fibre one.

Looking forward to you comming down Mark, I've actually had others express interest in having a body etc..... I just do not think making money and cars mix for me, Its supposed to be a hobby but who am I kidding it an obsession lol.

Not sure what a blown diffuser is.... I still have work to do to the diffuser which will depend on were the rear clip hinges.

The problem with the rear spoilers shown is they are simply not big enough, remember the rear of my car is 2m wide, I have found a source for suitable huge carbon ones and I will see what options I get... I'll still be looking into the drop wing affair just in case I am missing something.
