Hi there
I was wondering if others had seen this car at JD Classics for sale they are asking over 90k and not much of the original car left as new engine new chassis etc and new interior.
www.jdclassics.co.uk/car/441
seems a lot of money for history rather than originality.

Great Idea now why did i not think of that original bcensoredt just like my Grandfathers hammer 4 new handles and six new heads but still the same hammer?
Makes the V8 Tuscan that sold at Siverstone this year at £34500 same colour and same quality of rebuild and engine seem a Bargain.

I am not going to discuss Values or the subject of originality anymore...people tend to get upset.....

BUT... The reality is that most people have their own rose tinted view of what originality is.....Then people seem to have a perverse view on value weighed against their own perverse view of originality....

So is a TVR with new body and chassis but everything else old original?.... Or inversely if A TVR has its old body and chassis with everything else changed is it original...If just one or 2 parts are changed is the car original...Does it really only matter with respect to the bigger parts??. If a replacement part is not new old stock but re-manufactured by a company with no connection to TVR then is it original..

What I find funny is that the incoming badge snobs probably wouldn't be talking at all about values or indeed buying into this marque if the NON originalists hadn't taken an interest in the cars in the first place and started racing and manufacturing all these non original parts that people new to the forum seem to monotonously enquire about to prevent their cars dissolving into the ground.... let alone virgin first time owners new to the marque with a weird view of then criticising a car for being so nice its almost new.

All of my cars are non original, strangely though any discussion regards value doesn't really enter my head and nor do I give a st about how other people value them...I am happy though that all my cars are as original as most of the other cars out there...There are only one or 2 truly original cars..and most of the time the fair weather punter wouldn't realise the originality if it was slapping them in the face.

A restored car is seldom original...Full stop!

Though that said..Perhaps my next project will be the building of a restored car that everyone thinks is original!!!

Wow who opened a can of worms ( Bucensoreder i did)
Oh well great to see the discushion being addressed as yes most cars are not original mine especially i quess only body chassis and wheels diff gearbox and some of the running gear but i love her anyway.
My only point was the justification of the price against the right hand drive V8 Tuscan which is nearly the same car.
Guess the difference is the nearly but 60k of difference no way.
As for virgin owners wow breaking your virginity is great fun just remember if you can think back that far before you had a personel motoring brothel and lets us have our virgin fun.
Having had 30 years dreaming of the day when we can have time and funds and space to enjoy our TVRs now we have and a massive learing curve ahead we need advice not riddicule?
Just interesting what others think.
FOR EXAMPLE
Is a VW with a Porche engine correct no but its fun.
Is a TVR M Cosworth correct no but its fun and from what i saw at the pre 80s a fantastic piece of engineering.
However is a Harley Davidson fitted with a Honda engine and Vespa Wheels right absolutly not so i guess if it makes you happy and inhances your fun of your classic then great.
When you look at some of the Inhancments JD Classics are offering on Jags etc it makes you think.

$55K (£35K) Really .. for that ?? weeping
If its the car I am thinking of there is no engine with it I was offered that car about 18 months ago at $35k but decided against it as I was wanting a V8 car but for road use and was advised that although nice to have the driving experience for a road car would be better in a long wheel based car.
