Hi Neil,

Exhaust design is mine, fabrication was by Graham Frankland at Exhausts by Design. Coating by Zircotec.

The water rail is by Raceline. I also have their wet sump. Both excellent quality.

Cheers

Perhaps to be on the safe side all owners should just have their racks re-furbished by a specialist.
Adrian@
You know thats funny. i did that and the rack came back with the same play in the rod end until I did the work myself.
Some specialists are more special than others....
Present company accepted and please Adrian don't take this as a dig of any kind.

Specialists are getting fewer and fewer in my opinion.

Sorry this is a bit OT, but I think this engine would be an ideal swap into a Vixen (apologies to the purists) - it's a Puma 1.7 Zetec SE (Sigma) and I am putting it in my Anglia 105e.

It's small, light (less than 100kg fully dressed with flywheel and exhaust manifold), can be bolted to a type 9 five speed (with the right bell housing) and in the form I have it (totally stock other then 42mm bike TBs and running omex ecu) it will push out 150hp all day, every day, 180hp and revs to 8k is just a cam/ARP rod bolts/HD valve springs away. I like to think of it as the grandson of the original Twink engine. Anyone know of this engine (or the 1.25/1.4/1.6 variant) going in an old TVR? (I've seen it on Mk1 and Mk2 escorts and a Triumph Spitfire and I know of a couple of Anglia's with the 1.6).

Similar

Isn't the sigma related to the Zetec and the later ones Duratecs with yamaha ?? and in 1700 form stretched to max capacity. Induction exhaust positions reversed like the Duratec i keep saying that there are a lot of lovely little engines about these days.
Zetec still easier to fit. actually a bolt in swap.

Edited to add..am I missing something here? The pics of Pumas show the exhaust manifold on the opposite side to the one in your picture?? I am assuming earlier ones are sigma and later ones Duratec .

Bet the trias car with the sigma and a light flywheel was very resposive.

The picture is of a blacktop zetec, no relation to the puma zetec se.

Simple zetec history -

Silvertop zetec-e in late escort, probe and early mondeo, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0l, iron block, ally head, ally one piece sump, hydraulic tappets, inlet on drivers side (uk)
Blacktop zetec-r in later mondeo anfpd focus, 1.8 and 2.0l, iron block, ally head, two piece sump, solid tapet followers, inket on drivers side
ST170 badged a duratec but really bkacktop zetec with a more beefier bottom end, ported head and vct variable cam, inlet on drivers side
Zetec Se - designed by/with yamaha, all alloy, 1.25, 1.4, 1.6 and 1.7, fiesta, focus and puma, volvo c30/s40, mazda 3, 1.7 has stengthened bottom end and vct variable valve, hydraulic tappets, inlet on passenger side
Duratec - focus, mondeo, mx5, turbo version in mazda mps, 2.0, 2.3l all alloy, passenger side inlet

So pretty confusing, particularly with the volvo, mazda, ford link up.

Hope that helps.
I will stick with the old Blacktop in the vixen smile
The word Nikasil in liners scares me. but I suppose lots have been built without any dramas.
I think the Blacktop is as near to a BDA as you can get without it actually being one and its lovely to work on.
I am reckoning on about 170hp in the trim it is in..more than enough
Which version is the 1.7 Puma engine with the exhaust on the left bank as per the blacktop?

There isn't a version of the puma with the exhaust on the same side as the zetec as far as I know, you may have seen pictures of a puma with a bkacktop zetec transplant.

There are two version of the 1.7 zetec se, the vanilla 125hp version and the puma racing 155hp, same engine but the racing has different cams, inlet and exhaust. Puma came in 1.4, 1.6 and the two 1.7 versions.

I was pretty close to putting a ST170 in the anglia with the chester sportscars bike carb set up on it (has one on a silvertop in my fury kit car, loved it), but liking the challenge of the zetec Se as there are only one or two about and also think it will suit the lightweight anglia well (expecting to be around 750kg).

Best install I did, just bolted them on, hooked up the five wires, turned the key and off it went. I had the old megajolt set up with the torque biased map and it pulled like a train. I had previously had the oem ecu with both ginetta and griffin plenums and also an emerald with bike tbs and the bike carbs was the easiest and best set up.

I think chester now use the nodiz ecu which looks like a nice piece of kit, I think they are about to launch a spark and injection set up similar to megajolt, should be interesting.

I manahed to pick up an omex 710 ecu for the anglia, this can do fuly sequential and also full vct control. There is a guy on locostbuilder that has a very similar engine to me with omex 600 controlling the vct with off/on/off setup and has a very smooth power curve and peaked at 155hp at 7200 rpm. If I get clise to that I will be happy. One issue I do have is the exhaust which may have to be a shorty style to piss the steering column, still looking into that.

More info on the anglia at www.anglia1968.weebly.com if you are interested.

Cheers.
The pics of Pumas are std cars. I hadn't noticed the air intake which is low and to the RHS. The intake looks a little like an exhaust but obviously standard..

Well, body came off chassis again, removed all wiring, electrics and dash board. My son Christopher then set about cleaning off all underneath paint and sone chip, repaired the many holes that have been drilled in over the years then re painted it.
Prepped and sprayed the engine bay, body now refitted to chassis, set and fixed.

Temp fitted all new petrol tank straps, made a door for the petrol pump so i can access from underneath and a small removable panel to access the drain plug.
All now ready to be glassed into place them final fitted with correct length stainless fixings.

New stainless steel tank ready to go in when glassing is finished.

I've kind of gone back to go forward, but it was needed.
Looking very good Mr L. smile

Making good progress Bernard, made a list!

Lined the petrol tank area with fire blanket and made ad fitted a new bulk head cover with brackets.

Fitted rear lights & bumbers (I know they all have to come off again but want to make sure I have everything)

Engine bay is progressing, servo and cylinder fitted, all piped up, fuel lines in, peddle box fitted etc.

And the reason for the list is so, like this afternoon I got home and could have easily succumed to the Singapore GP practice, but binstead went to the list and made the console cover.

In between Ive fitted new discs and calipers to the GEM.
Spot on lad.
You are giving me some impetus to get cracking after a couple of weeks lulled performance smile
