It was, I took that in January 1990 and posted it on here a year or so ago as someone who now owned the subtle purple Griffith wanted to see what looked like before it had been painted a boring green. My invoice to Andrew for infringement of copyright will be in the post tomorrow, £5K+vat should go towards a body off rebuild.
Oliver.
Can you mark it for the attention of Dip Stick please she Pees all the bills of this kind Oliver.

Can you just imagine the tt in the early 1960's who derided Mr Saidel for putting one of those modern racing Climax engines where the trusty old ford E93 side valve should be ….hang on a minute

I think not the car was designed for it and please dont compare yourself to Mr Saidel and he does deserve a Capital S in his name so i have edited your post N

really nice indeed, what would such car be worth?
No dig intended what would you be willing to pay and then probably double that again its so hard to say as one has not come on the open market for a while but such a unique piece of motoring history i guess that the only way to sell properly is to market it for at least 3 months worldwide and sell at an international auction without reserve if the seller has the nerve. That way you have exactly what its worth

It's common to have to add or replace silencers to meet noise restrictions of some circuits. If its mainly a road car, then bolting on extras is an easy way to go, and of course easily removeable to obtain originality which some crave.................Regards Originality I understand where many come from on that with some TVRs that's not always easy David to ascertain totally as certainly the early cars seemed to evolve as the time went by and documentation of exact changes and chassis numbers where things changed from is sketchy to say the least.
From my own perspective its not so much originality but period that is more important but I guess we all have our own thing.
I just hate modern added to old for me it does not work.
However when it comes to my 3000s I actually feel that some subtle changes that take it back 10 years in styling works in ways as the car was in many ways a retro car before the word retro became a car designers marketing edge.
The 3000s in 1978 was in so many ways the convertible TVR should have been building in 1968 to compete with the other top selling cars at that time but did not get round to it and some features where done due to regulations such as the Bumpers for the USA in the same way it spoiled the look of the MGS at that time in the same way chrome or stainless enhances the look today IMOP.
Hence when it comes to my Tuscan I am incorporating some period features that would actually have been on earlier models partly because they enhance the look of the car IMOP and also they are in some cases rather unique and at shows etc are conversation points where I know people will ask as they will not have seen them before there are a few more still to do and also add to the challenge of building the car.
Yes we are all different my Wife for example has her Mini which we bought from new and is nearly 20 years old with 22000 miles on the clock and is just as she was when she came out of the factory and she will not let me change anything no Mini Lights wooden wheel or retro parts allowed when her wheel covers had some scuffs on I took them off and re sprayed however her eagle eye said they where a slightly different shade of silver so I had to find her a new set well that was nigh impossible as they are like hens teeth hardly anyone else wants them as most upgrade there wheels and there is very little market for them so it took an age to finally get a new set.
As they are so rare they go on for shows and the others go back on for daily use.
So as you can see even in one house there are differences of opinion.
As others have said enjoy your cars I guess they can always be changed back in years to come and i am sure some will.

Nice pics ! The Granturas are a thing of beauty, by far the best looking car TVR has ever produced IMHO
Does the car in the last 2 pics belong to someone on here by any chance
I think we both know who owns that little beauty and I am sitting on seats that came out of her but yes your right they are stunning that one with the vinyl roof looks stunning.Does the car in the last 2 pics belong to someone on here by any chance
Sadly we don't seem to see enough of them out on the roads hence its great to see pictures of them on here.
When I need a Grantura Fix I go on the register and have a look through so many of them are in the process of being restored or waiting on being restored lots of great intensions and lack of time or funds or both I suspect.

I am rather fond of that picture myself. It shows a sort of styling evolution at TVR....I know there are a few missing, but that what was on my field at the time. Blue one is a UK Griff, black one is a Tuscan V8 and one poor little wedgie at the end!
Best,
D.
Its a Stunning one David and your right to be proud of it.Best,
D.
I also love the old Black and white pictures of the cars they really bring history alive in a way that colour detracts from.
And a couple or real Beauties here

I had a sneak preview of the entry for the Fordwater Trophy at this year's Revival and there are several Granturas - MkII's and III's including the one Mike Youles built for the 72nd Members Meeting
Also some relative rarities two G4s, a Tornado Talisman, a Sabre Six, a Gilbern 1800 and Alan Collett's Iso Rivolta IR300 plus the usual GTS11 regulars
Afraid I didn't get an entry for the Fordwater this year ..........but I am in the Whitsun Trophy ;-)
Fantastic Richard will look forward to seeing you there its great that the one Mike built is going to be there I hope they have the engine sorted by then although I guess the steering will always be ? just going on the Friday this year as a lot on here with work etc. Also some relative rarities two G4s, a Tornado Talisman, a Sabre Six, a Gilbern 1800 and Alan Collett's Iso Rivolta IR300 plus the usual GTS11 regulars

The owners of the car must have got the invite direct as the company I believe has closed up sadly
