When i first bought my 3000S i was told by the vendor there was problems with the petrol tank and fuel.
The 2 filters he had put in the fuel line were very dirty.
So i removed the tank and cleaned it out. I bought a special Kit from "Restom" in France to treat the tank in 3 stages.
First degreaser, Second Rust Treatment and Third but not least a special Resin. o.k. no problem. I left it a week before putting petrol in the tank.
I put a new Glass seethrough filter in the line Inside the boot to watch petrol flow.
I can see lots of Air bubbles and the filter in the line Inside the boot does not fill correctly. It is sucking Air in the line.
I am sure the problem is the Pickup pipe that goes down into the tank. It must be rusted and porous.
Does someone know what the pickup inside the tank is like.
thanks Alan

i know you are both right. I just need to sell my 1975 1600M first or my Lotus Elan +2s130/4 which are both on the market. That will help the cash flow

sorry FasterM,
but i would not sell ma 1600M to someone that i knew was going to rip the engine out to fit a V8. I always keep my cars as they were meant to be. That's why i am a classic car fanatic. I don't mine Classic tuning if that was how it was done in it's day.
Well i'm like that

looking through the car's paperwork i have found a receipt in 1990 for a Product called "Carbon Flow". It's stated that it is a special gauze you put in the tank so you can use Unleaded fuel.
I know since then the Engine was rebuilt by Burton in 1999.
I Wonder if some of this crap gauze rubbish is still lerking in the tank and is the cause of the Pickup problem. merde merde merde
Please excuse my French

tomtrout,
just a small detail a Lotus Elan +2 is 900kgs and a Lotus Elan Sprint is only 700 kgs and 126 bhp Under the bonnet. This means 180 bhp/ton without tuning.
My +2s130 is not in the same ball game as my Sprint with 200 kgs less
