Hi mates,
Does anyone could provide me the lenght end to end of a mk2a propeller shaft?
Just made a trail fitting of the engine plus transmission, and my differential is moved backwards of 30mm if compared to old chassis.
I am working to rebuild supports on my new chassis as original one was damaged and badly repaired.
Old one used as template for engine and transmission attaching points.
Car bought in bits and I think past owner had a wrong propeller shaft.
Thanks for any advice.

Hi Baz,
Thanks for your message.
An American friend of mine with a 1961 mk2A confirms that his propeller shaft is 311mm long (center to center of the universal joints). Mine is the same.
It is likely that my welder made a wrong measurement as far as the center to center measure of the lower torsion tubes on the new chassis is the same as old one.
I would like to move the engine forward by 15mm in order to get better clearance with header tank.
Now I have less than one finger with Mga standard pressed steel rocker cover.
Thus I would make me to be out of measure with the differential of about 15mm.
This seems to be not so bad as inspecting photos of other mk2A I can see that drive shafts are not working on a plane in their vertical movement. Key point is the clearance with the petrol tank!
Last owner of my car disintegrated the floors, tunnel and the rear section of the body in order to remove the body thus I do not have any reference.
It is likely that I am going to have made a lot of glass fibre work done.

In the weekend I will take measures again and then I let you know.
Waiting for any Grantura guru comment on the topic.
It would be really appreciated by my side.
Regards,

Francesco
