I was just reading the porshe engine rebuild thread in readers cars and got to wondering what has happened to all the rebuilds that were going on.

Steves Series one Vixen Zetec
Brian's Silver Vixen S3
Jerseyvixens S1
PatH's Tuscan

etc

As for me, my cars in Redditch finally getting the chassis sorted and I am hopping from foot to foot waiting to get it back so I can work on getting the engine started for the first time in about 30 years!!

so Come on whats happening

No Neither do mine, Maybe we have each others doors !!

What ever I do with the door carcass, the window frame sticks out at the top, even when fully adjusted. Also the door curve top to bottom doesn't match the bodywork and the door gaps are awful. I ve put them to one side and focussed on other stuff for a bit before I go nuts.

Which one are you working on?

That look great Hans. Do you need to do some kind of government tests now, or are Old-timers exempt?

The 'swap' to a type 9 gearbox has become an engine rebuild with everything front of the bulkhead being done how did that happen? Currently stalled on fettling a new manifold to clear the chassis and a dozen other blind alleys.

Wow thats a fantastic looking bit of pipe-work in there. I know what you mean when you talk about getting carried away! I have just rebuilt the carb on my car. Not content with cleaning it up and swapping out the parts in the rebuild kit, I decided to get it aqua blasted and then, encouraged by the results an earlier poster got with an Ebay plating kit, I re-plated all the linkages too

before

After

No idea why the pics are on their side!

Thanks it will look better when it fits. I also have the 32DFM carb I think it was the standard on the Vixen. I'm using mine to get the engine run in then swapping to a 32/36 DGV which should give much better performance, then ultimately onto a pair of twin 40's
Watch out when you swap over because the linkage engages with the right hand side rod instead of the left hand rod. If you have an escort/Pinto rod linkage fitted it wont link up anymore!

Yeah but technically complicated and far reaching so that's to be expected no.

Due to exchange contracts on house purchase tomorrow....

Then I can extract the Tuscan from the back of my friend's garage and start thinking about making some progress.

Then time for "feel good thread of the year". Right?

Which reminds me there was another guy who had tracked down his Dad's old Vixen race car and was going to rebuild it. He only posted the once I think

Pretty much slowed to a standstill after injuring my back(hernia) in 2014.
Had surgery a couple of months ago and on the recovery, will probably be another few months before I can start working on it again.
