Hello all,

After a number of years browsing I finally added to my TVR collection (well, when I say collection I mean my Cerbera...) picked up this little beauty today.

A few little niggles to sort, as ever, but first impressions are good despite it becoming increasingly difficult to get into gear as the drive back to central London progressed. The last 5 miles being stuck in 2nd gear...maybe hydraulics or the clutch on it's last legs - is there an easy adjuster on these, or a good place to start my poking around and investigating? It kept ok(ish) temperature, but the weather wasn't too hot and there wasn't much traffic - the electric fan is puny - is there a 'standard' upgrade Vixen folk do?

Happy Tivvering!

Always had a love for the older TVRs, it's about 20 years ago since I bought my first one - an amazing 3000M - loved that car!

Parked in the University car park a 'freak' accident with a drunken digger driver crushed the back windscreen - that was some sight to come back to after work looking forward to the drive home...

All got fixed up nicely and then I ended up selling when I moved to London, and that was about 18 years ago now so it's good to be back in an old 70's Tivver!

Andrew - thanks for the PM - can't make it this weekend though unfortunately, looks like it would be a good one.

Cheers

Thanks for the messages and advice - I just hopped in and depressed the pedal once and it won't go into gear. However, if I pump the pedal it goes in ok (well, with a bit of a shove), so I'm guessing slave cylinder as a starting point for replacement. From back in my Triumph days I'm presuming Moss is a good place to go, or Rimmer Bros? and am I looking for a TR6 type? anything more specific? it's a non-overdrive standard 4 speed as far as I know.

Moto - it's a long story....I was outbid but essentially it didn't meet it's reserve. I was contacted afterwards and 'persuaded' that I should buy it...didn't take much persuading and all in with fees etc it owes me just over 12k, which I'm pretty happy with. Now to fix those niggles, I won't be tarting up though! Like you I like cars in their 'used' state, I once had an old Davrian resprayed and it was pristine - never dared drive it after that.

Cheers

pretty happy yes! wink I know the one you mean - the navy one with the rather special registration, I meant to bid on that (another long story). I liked the sound of the engine mods (who did them out of interest?) - but with hindsight it might have been a bit tidy for me...!
