Just in case anyone is interested.

Many years ago whilst refurbishing our 1972 3000M I wanted to get some original chrome bumpers for it (someone had fitted later rubber ones), they were impossible to get hold of so I had some made using the original Triumph 2000 saloon (I think) front bumpers IIRC.

These were also very difficult to find so I bought all those available, 4.

2 were used to make replacement bumpers and the other 2 have been in my garage for the last 20 or so years.

After all that pre-amble, the main reason for the post is to find out If anybody would like these bumpers, they are free (although a donation to Help for Heroes would be nice if they have any value these days), but they would need to be collected from the Hampshire/Surrey/Berkshire area.

H Russ,
i would very much like the Bumpers for my 1976 3000M which has none at the moment.
The problem is i live in Brittany France.
It's no problem for me to pay the post if you would consider posting them please.
My E-mail is <alan.barker@orange.fr>
cheers
Alan

Beware the ones on flea bay. They have been modified in design to suit the later cars, sad consequence is they don't fit the original early Ms without quite a bit of work to the body.

A friend is closing the ends with stainless and some welding .
Then i will see about chroming.

It's only the closing end plates that are in stainless. They are ex Triumph 2000 front Bumpers with middle section cut out.
With the closing plates made from stainless they have a good surface finish so reduce polishing man hours before rechroming.

Apart from issues welding stainless to carbon (mild) steel, I presume the Triumph bumpers are not stainless, I understand the preparation process to differ slightly?

I could, and quite possibly am, completely wrong but I would speak to your plater first scratchchin

No problem for the welding with TIG. It depends what stainless you use and what wire mix.
I will visit the chroming place soon to see what they have to say for the polishing before rechroming. To see if i do some polishing or let them do all the work, depending on price.
Because of the stainless part them will need a Nickel or Copper strike in the process.

the chroming will not be cheap but i hope cheaper than the Harrington prices. I think they will fit better also and no modification to the body.
Wait and see

Just an update about the Bumpers and rechroming. I have left them for Chroming and will pick them up in one month.
The price is 408 Euros including tva which for me seems correct BUT i will see when i pick them up.
For sure with the "T" slot wheels already refurbished that will mean lots of bling bling.
