I seem to have acquired a 250 two-smoke racing kart (CR250 engine, so around 50-60bhp) . The problem now is finding somewhere to use it....there are a couple of short circuits within 50 miles I can take it to, but long circuit seems hard to find, without basically doing the UK GP practice day <gulp>.

Plenty of two wheeled national race experience, but none in a kart.

So, suggestions? DO any car trackday organisers let Superkarts out? Given that they lap slightly faster than F3 cars on some circuits, they're certainly quick enough...just worry how dangerous it would be.

Brilliant.
Totally baffled. Unless it's just a random insult?

You say you want to run some long circuit. Some of the short circuits I used to race 125s on are pretty quick and wouldn't dissapoint. If your machine has beeen used on long circuits it probably has long circuit gearing, so shortening the gearing via drive and axle sprockets would give you the type of performance you need. Also most kart circuits run regular practise dates where you can spend all day.
For starters, there's Little Rissington and Shennington, both have longish straights and some quick bends for the gearbox karts. There's also Three Sisters near Wigan. I think they run car sprints there so is fairly fast. I never got as far as long circuit (too little money, too much weight!) but thoroughly enjoyed myself on short circuits. Just pick the quick ones.
That's v helpful, thanks. I'm not particularly planning on campaigning it properly - just would be nice to see what it can do. I'll take a couple of teeth off the front sprocket for starters!

I'll happily do short circuit - in fact would rather start there, as it'll be cheaper. I've raced most of the long circuits, apart from some of the smaller northern ones. Would love to do Lydden in a kart - always was one of my fave tracks, being a fat boy myself.

PF don't take geared karts sadly...

ANyway - update is that it's only a 125, but we've found a few tracks like Shennington that will take it...
