First visit to oulton park gt
Discussion
Hello all,
I'm finally getting round to going to the gt racing at oulton. Even though I live 25 mins away I've never been to the racing. Barring the super bikes and I was dropped outside for that .
So, where should I park up, if it matters I've an 8 year old with me. Initial thoughts are knicker brook so i can sit in the car for bits if required. However , could be a bit of a track to the centre bit to soak up the atmosphere. Any thoughts , can I literwlly parks anywhere when inside ?. I know the circuit pretty well as I've just driven in a few times and nosed the track day cars.

Middlewich. Iused to commute that way too alot to wrexham so i know the roads you speak. When in knickerbrook whats the deal parking wise ?. Do you park where you want, I assume getting there early enough alows you to pull up with the bonnet facing the track and you can just sit and watch sat inside can you ?
Ok cheers.
Interestingly , searching Oulton park on google maps brings up an incredibly busy race day. Very carefully looking I think I see a few bikes, so Im guessing the british super bikes. Straight away you can the see the popular spots and pick out a good one for yourself !. Although very difficult to guage hills/gradients . Very interesting to look at though , especially for a newbie.
Not sure how this compares to the GT/F3 ?

So I'm back !.
Firsts things first. Lessons learnt :
Take sun Cream !. My daughter survived with the aid of a rapidly purchased Lewis Hamilton cap, i didn't.
You cant sit in your car and watch the racing at pretty much any point down the old hall entrance.
Take a chair ! - im knackered !
I had little idea what was going on at any point.
Rocked up at the old hall entrance at 8.50 , early bird catches the worm. Plenty of space , foggy and moist though. Within 30 mins cars are getting stuck all over the place but swiftly fixed by dropping the rope stopping you turning directly onto the field and allowing quick parking and not having to trek through everyone else's tracks.
Watched the first GT race down the first finish straight and then walked all the way round old hall , dentons and then to cascades on the outside of the circuit. Crikey they are loud , and the Mercedes is just dirty , incredible.
Wandered back over the deer leap bride and into the paddock area where there was an amazing attendance of Italian exotica . Lovely stuff.
Walked to see nearly every corner including shell oils, that was a bit of a trek but worth it, the weather in the afternoon was glorious , and without any protection quickly turned painful.
I realise now if I wanted to sit in the car and watch , knickerbrook is definitely the place, a lovely view, this may have also saved a bit of the face from melting.
All in all a success, pretty well planned but definitely a few tweeks for next time. Might think about the touring cars , but this is bound to be packed and less relaxing and open in the paddock areas.

Any queuing I must have been totally oblivious too , at the gate around 8.50 parking up about 8.52. No problems getting in or out. Knowing the "Secret Ways" around the area helped a little I think, especially on heading home.
Crash wise, I was literally next to the Mercedes as it got tapped at Dentons ?, you could hear the driver and he was not too happy. Great thing about being on the outside of the track that its very quiet.
