TCR Touring Car series
Discussion
Just watching a replay on Motors TV of the first race at Sepang (It's an F1 support race). Many Seat Leons and Honda Civics on the grid with a couple of Audi TT's. Ford Focus and Opel Astra cars will be at the second round. Car cost is €90,000 with the engine, bodywork regs look limilar to BTCC with wide arches, splitters and wings on standard shells. Engines are 300bhp 2.0 turbo (petrol or diesel), no idea if there is any 'equalisation' going on between different cars, the TT's are getting special permission to race as the rules say 4 or 5 door cars.
There's a lot less banger racing style from what I've seen so far compared to BTCC, maybe its the Sepang track but it did stretch out a bit over the race, a few tussles though.

According to the commentary there are going to be regional championships next year as well as this international series, all based on the same rules, and its all about the low costs.

There are TCR spec cars running this year as a class within the American USTCC series. http://www.touringcartimes.com/2014/12/20/tcr-usa-...
I don't think BTCC would do the same, as they've only just gone over to NGTC spec.
