Does anyone know the full story?

We've just received a communication from the HSCC informing us that tyre selection is going to be free for the foreseeable future due to Dunlop failing to supply.

What a shame from such a historic name as Dunlop.

I’d have no problem boycotting Goodyear and Dunlop road tyres (never been blown away by either), but we have eight hundred quid’s worth of 5.25 section ‘L’ CR65s and now the club is suggesting the possibility of opening up the tyre regs to other manufacturers…

Where did you hear this?

I can't find any mention of it. Is for all series?
Based on the somewhat vague e-mail from Grahame I deduce that it effects only Guards Trophy, and probably only the sports racers within the Guards Trophy judging by the fact that the tyres for our Elan appear to be readily available.

The scope and duration of the change is not confirmed in the e-mail, and nor is the notice period with which it could be implemented, which has me a little worried- While our tyres appear to be in good supply, what’s to stop a competitor rocking up with a much faster tyre citing ‘Dunlop supply problems’?

I should say that in the past, panic buying has been a problem so to anybody reading this may I just add... Don't be part of the problem!

We have a half worn set on the car and a new set in the trailer. That should do us for 2016. My main fear was that a change in regs could force us to change tyres / setup as you say CorporalSparrow.
