Any recommendations on a series of roads to use in these areas?

camera vans love the road around Rutland water itself so watch out
Oh I know, I'm 21. And got caught within 5 weeks of passing my test - my dad was chuffed when the speeding ticket came through rofl Regularly drive on Barnsdale hill (where they regularly sit), serious money churner that speed van is!

Went on a spirited drive friday evening and sat morning, nearly lost my car a couple of times properly over egging it - good job I managed to save it - only had my car 6months. Young and dumb it would seem.

Did a route to caldecott on friday, lovely roads, fairly tight though - unfortunately in a derv atm so doesnt sound great but at least I enjoy driving my car anyway. Hopefully in a few years time Ill change to something a bit nicer and possibly RWD.

All I need is something petrol, decent power/chassis, and reasonably light. My 1.6 diesel fiesta is fun, but sounds dull, and doesnt quite go how I want. definitely regret not buying the ST version. Diesel is the devil juice but £30 road tax is rather nice!

Yep, that's the one!
Ive been right in wymondham towards M/O and thistle ton but never gone left actually!

And yes I had a day of being very very stupid, got home and regretted it. since slowed down as not worth it and my driving talents just aren't enough, and as you've described all sorts of dangers about our roads - deer and tractors being the most common of dangers let alone other road users etc. Clearly still have a lot to learn,

We do have some really great roadss and I have some memorable drives around, I need a petrol car again though as my current car is ran on devil juice and doesnt sound of anything just gruff frown .

I also enjoy the Oakham to Tilton road, as driven slightly briskly its some nice tarmac, although theres several sketchy corners/cambers etc. Beyond tilton straight over the 47 in the direction of kibworth are some great faster bits of road as well!

If you do go towards the Melton Rd from Wymondham then that is also an excellent road all the way into Melton, although avoid at busy times of the day.

Venturing slightly further away - follow your way on the B roads from Wansford all the way to Kimbolton and you will discover some excellent tarmac with rare (for the UK) open bends.

I don't mean to be condescending about the warning. I did a fair amount of my HPC training on these roads with John Lyon, as he lives nearby, and despite thinking I was pretty aware of the hazards it was educational to say the least. I am still learning and no doubt will also make plenty more mistakes! Enjoy the roads and good luck finding a more suitable motor :-)

I didn't take it the wrong way don't worry, a friend of a friend who is an advance police driver instructor has offered to take me out to give me tips on things to look out for, he also suggested when I have spare income to do track days if I can afford it to have a blast. Hopefully that may open my eyes a little.

Will have to explore further afield when Im not so busy with revision and work! Plenty of time to explore the roads on my own biggrin
