Frankfurt to Munich: A3 & A9 or A5 & A8 ?

Hello. My first posting on this forum, so probably asking dumb questions - apologies.
I am driving from London to Austria on the Sat of half term. I prefer the route via Belgium, Netherlands into Germany / Aachen. Normally, I would follow the standard route to Frankfurt and then A3 / A9 to Munich. However, I recall the A3 section between Frankfurt to Munich, is two-lanes and was thinking of avoiding that and going down to Stuttgart on the A5 from Frankfurt and then onto the A8 to Munich instead. Just wondering if anyone has thoughts / experience of that, pls?
Also, I ultimately need to get to Scheffau / Kufstein area and was thinking that if I took to A8 to Munich from Stuttgart, then I could go the ''other'' way around the Munich ring road (anticlockwise) to pick up the A8 to Rossenheim rather than clockwise for 270 degrees. As I say, normally, take the A9 into Munich (from Nuremberg) and hence, go clockwise around the Munich ring road onto the A8 to Rossenheim...but just exploring options.
I am driving overnight...will be in Calais for midnight, so anticipating Frankfurt for 8am-ish, Munich for 10am - 11am-ish on the Sat of half term. Kids and missus in tow, so won't be hacking it.
