Newbie here, apologies if asked and answered a hundred times. The Hubby and I are attending the Revival in September. We have 3 days to get to Dollar in Scotland. Would like to amble through some pretty places. Predictably the Cotswolds. From there on up I really have no clue. Would like to see a bit of Hadrian's wall, Yorkshire Dales, etc. Loved the Scottish Borders last year when there. This is a car centered trip as we then go on a vintage car tour of the Highlands. We've never been to England, just Scotland. Living in wide open spaces here in Oklahoma the distances throw me for a loop. Don't want to spend a fortune on accommodation, we like pubs with rooms and inns in small towns. Basically want help deciding where to stop for the night. Thanks for any input!

Thank you for your reply!

I'm thinking of the 3 nights we have to spend on the road, stay the first night around Stratford-upon-Avon. Just not sure where to stop for night 2. Night 3 I'm looking for someplace interesting in the Borders, possibly a return to Duns to revisit the Jim Clark Room.

So where to spend night 2 is my biggest question I'd say. Somewhere in the Yorkshire Dales or Lake District? Is that reasonable to allow some ambling along the way?

The route from Salisbury to Marlborough and on past Swindon has a few variations. If you're planning in that great detail ID be happy to tell you my favourite (when I'm not posting from my phone in an airport Wetherspoon's...)
Would love that, thank you! Not sure how much detail we will plan on, but that area seems a good one for that!
