Just got back from an amazing road trip across Europe. We spent several days in Romania driving some stunning roads in the Carpathian mountains, testing out the Transfagarasan Highway which Clarkson rates as the best road in the world.
Here's a link to my pictures from the trip: www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=528805

Interesting stuff. How did you find the train?
The train was fine, cabins were a bit cramped and only the deluxe cabins had a shower. One night on the train at a time was enough but it enabled us to sleep and cut out several hundred miles of driving.

That looked to be a great trip! Was the train expensive?
I'll check on the train price but the whole trip was very reasonable as the group of us all organised it ourselves. Last year we did the usual Alpine and Italian stuff arranged by the GTROC and Automission, that worked out at £1900 plus fuel for two people, this year we had a more interesting itinery, much better hotels and it cost me £1200 plus fuel, this included hotels, tunnel and sleeper train. The total driving distance from my home was 2,200 miles so used about 100 gallons of fuel but it was quite a bit cheaper in Romania.

Just a couple more train questions (sorry!). Do you load/unload the car yourself? enough room width-wise?

I only ask because we considered this approach last year, and still may in the future. Our issue is our car (a 360) is pretty wide and there's no way anybody else has a chance of driving it on/off!

The train is tight but you load and unload the cars yourself, ramps are quite steep but I think you would just clear with a 360 and I would guess the R35 is probably wider than a 360.
