I'm going to be driving to Weymouth via the M3, M27, A31, A35 and A354.

On screen it looks fairly straightforward.

Any advice on roadworks or any other problems I need to allow for?

Going to go just after Easter.

Thanks for any experience/local knowledge

Would the return jiurney be the same in reverse or is there a knack to it?

E46 Alpina B3, loaded up

But my mum will be on board, so smoothly does it!

What I meant was should I return by a different route

Many thanks all! The weather forecast is predictably terrible but I hope the sun will poke through so we can enjoy the views you mention

The trip was good but the drive was not. My own fault because I should have just trusted your advice instead of the sat nav which constantly nagged me to divert onto her preferred route. I got caught in the middle.

We had a nice lunch in Beaminster. Poundbury was spooky, what a weird place.

Weather was dreary. A farmer told me that since October they hadn’t had more than two days in a row without rain.

Thanks again for your help. It may not be the last time I attempt the journey although it took a lot longer than I was expecting
