Took a video of my Westy at Bedford last saturday. Its a bit of a beast so left it in the pits from 9am-3pm until track was pretty empty. Used my Exige and awesome Clio cup until then. Will post some vids of them if anyone is interested. Was Brilliant day as usual at Bedford. Thanks to the Bedford staff and Easytrack for amazing day.

Good to also see infinity's white and blue MK1 Golf out there too testing since its mega 7year rebuild, in the first few seconds of that vid.
The Golf guys were in next garage, nice guys. Car look serious! and very very light!

I almost reversed into it once. He just stopped me!

I have some more videos of it from my Clio and Lotus.

Loving that car. Did you have fun...absolutely, are you an F1 driver...no, Does it matter...nope, should everyone be a bit nicer...?

The acceleration in 2/3/4 is hilarious. Awesome car and some good catching there wink
Thanks dude. I wasnt trying to be smooth or fast. I was just trying to have fun! and I did smile

Car can actually go alot faster than that in a straight line. That was only running lowish boost (about 1.3bar, it can run upto 2.4) due to noise restrictions at Bedford and the water injection wasnt working. Think its got an air lock somehow.

Thanks to everyone else for all the nice comments. I love taking people out in it. So if you see me at a Trackday please just ask.

I forgot to ask, do you have a link to a build thread on this car? This forum or elsewhere...

Think I've watched that video about 10 times now!!
Glad you liked it dude. You are welcome to come along to a trackday and have a blast out in it.

There is a build thread. Its quite a long read... lots of pics though. It was supposed to be a real budget build. It got way way way out of hand and budget went out the window completely.

http://passionford.com/forum/restorations-rebuilds...

Sorry my driving has upset certain people frown Feel all a bit low about it to be honest....

I'll always listen to criticism and the LAST thing I want to do is upset anyone else on track. Hence why I left that car in the pits from 9am -3pm

If I had had any complaints or was told to cool it down of course I would have. The Marshall was warning me about drifting too much. That was the sign he waved. I pulled into the pits to apologise. They said no worries and to carry on having fun.

I don't try and bully people out of the way and always try and be as considerate as I can.

Yes I make mistakes and can get over excited and I know I am not the worlds greatest driver! but I dont think I am 'awful' either... although I kinda feel it now frown

I wasnt trying to be smooth. I wasnt trying to be that fast. I was just trying to have fun. I dont think I was off the track either really. Was just using all the available area to maximise the fun!

Thanks for sticking up for me Mr Rhino. You are welcome to have a drive of the car if you like. Its alot of fun

Thanks Ned too!

He has admitted himself that the marshal had a word wit him as he looked out of control.

Porkie you have some lovely cars and you obviously have a lot of fun with them I just advise you get some tuition at your next session.

Er? no I didn't. I was told to stop drifting 'so much'

not because I was out of control!

Bedford try and keep drifting to a minimum because of NOISE issues with screaming tyres I think you will find.

I have had lots and lots of tuition over the years! and will continue to have more. I will post a video of me out in my Exige at Donno few weeks ago with an instructor if you like. Its bit boring but very informative. I CAN drive smoothly. I was just enjoying driving like a bit of a wally on a pretty empty track in the last HOUR of the day at Bedford. A big open and very safe track.

I was TRYING to be brutal with the throttle and throwing it in way to hard on the slower corners as it was FUN.

As for staying on the track? As I said before. I was just using all of the available area to enjoy myself.

I get the impression you have never been to Bedford have you? Wanna come along next time I go? Its an AWESOME place. I will show you I can drive smoothly and keep it between the lines if you want smile

Massive thanks for everyone elses comments. Glad most people enjoy what I thought was a pretty safe time and place to have a 'hoon' smile

OP, sorry for the slight hijack.

Your car is incredible! From reading your build thread you seem like a top bloke, with a fantastic attitude. I actually live near Bedford, so will hopefully get the chance to see and hear your animal of a Westfield in the future.
Sure mate, I go there a few times a month normally. Will take you out for a ride on track if you like smile Most of my pleasure from cars comes from sharing all the fun experiences with other people. Its boring just going around on your own!

LOVE Combe. I go alot... My old Sierra was a bit of a monster around there

I'm no Genius through Quarry myself though! Awesome track though.

I do Charity rides there every year for RSowners club day. Always an amazing day.

RBWill, I will PM you next time I go smile You will love Bedford. Amazing place and great people there that run it.

Noise is a problem there though. They even switched from running there own Caterham superlights (that they use in the amazing Palmersport days) from road tyres to full slicks. Just to try and keep the noise down.

Nothing more to to say than WOW! I am hoping when I have a garage to build a kit car, bike engined or V8 though.

OP can I ask why you went the cossie engined route?
Always been into Fords and Cosworths. My friend owns Reyland and is very big and successful Cosworth tuner. I owned the Sierra on the right, he had the Escort. Had lots of fun with these two at tracks all over. Both are now for sale.

I had a R34GTR and 996Turbo and the Sierra at the same time and tracked them all... alot. All 3 were big heavy but fast 4x4's and wanted a change... My Boxster was great road car but just not fast enough to thrill me on track. I always loved the Caterhams I drove at Palmersport and my friend owned this mental Westfield with a Cosworth engine and I wanted one as well! So seemed a logical move when a factory built Westfield Cosworth came up for sale on Passionford. The rest is history!

This is my friends who built my car for me! his has even more power than my one!

When looking for those photos.... I found one that makes you realise just how little there is to these cars!

Its no wonder when you stick 500bhp in one of these that it doesnt hang around!

Thanks again for everyones positive comments smile

That was awesome to watch, that 'thing' is BRUTAL!!

And for those saying your driving was awful..... It was obvious you were having a hoon, you ARE just an Essex chav at heart afterall!! smile
100% hooning and 100% an Essex Chav! Glad you 'get it' !

Was turning in way too hard on the slower corners to unsettle it... then NAILING the throttle and waiting for boost to kick in... then trying to hang on for dear life like a bucking bronco! LOTS of fun.

I wouldn't drive like that if lots of traffic or anywhere else other than a very empty Bedford!

Yep. Terrible driving. Thank god it was only me that was hurt and no innocent bystanders or other road users were involved at all.

I wasnt driving but still feel ashamed and resposible. You live and learn! ... I am certainly a different person now (and a TERRIBLE passenger!)

Hi Lee.

Just watched the video again, awesome car!

Thanks for the passenger ride in the Exige, that thing truely is epic, I never really understood them before, but after the ride, can see what the fuss about them is.

I had a good nose around your clio, down at MWMsport today, its given me some ideas to do with my cup.

Matt
Glad you enjoyed the ExigeS. As a standard car... its amazing on track. Takes soooooooooooo much abuse from me and lots of my friends and family reguarly hammer it around tracks as well and its faultless. Everyone always loves driving it. Its also so so so so cheap to run as a trackcar. Its much lighter on brakes and tyres than the Clio for example!

Wow thanks alot guys for all the positive comments!

Gonna keep developing the car (and my driving of course!)

Trying to get a bigger exhaust made to shut the thing up so I don't have to lift past all the sound moniters and can then I can run some proper booost at bedford. It really can go ALOT faster than in that video.

Weirdly, I get just as excited about the new engine I am having built for my little Clio 172cup! should be a whole 200bhp this time smile

Just love all cars!

Jesus that thing looks like a handful to drive!

What are you having done to the Clio?? I remember you saying on ClioSport, (or here, I can't remember!) that you wished you left it alone!? TB's or RS2???
Its already on ATpower ITB's.

Was getting out dragged by standard cars though! turns out it was way down on compression on cylinder 3.

So having it all rebuilt and adding some cams in this time.

OP: Are those your Palmersport laps on the youtube channel you posted? Out of curiosity what was your time in the JP-LM?
They are yes. I'm pretty quick in those.... but then I've done the event 20 times now! so I should be quick by now.

I've gone quicker than 76 before... just had this one on phone as I took a pic as I fell of the bloody logs on the 4x4.... that can be the difference between winning the day and coming 5th or something

Thankfully... it didn't wink

It has taken me about 2 days on and off to read that build thread and wow. That is frankly the best example of mission creep I have ever seen. I hope you don't work in planning or programme management. Maybe MOD budgeting? Absolutely amazing car it's just hilarious that it went from a quick tidy up and morphed into one of the ultimate westfields.
Yes... it all went a bit wrong didnt it!!!

I'm utterly useless with money and just get soooooooo overexcited when it comes to cars.
