Well my saxo seems to get all of my love, and probably gets talked alot more by me than my E90, this is possibly because it never breaks!

I blew my B4RSK up just as I changed to a job 30 miles from home Nov 2010 ish, which was both good & bad, bad because I loved the Legacy, good because it would have killed me on fuel.

Panic set in, as did visiting a lot of car showrooms, I had my heart set on a 2.0TD A4 quattro Sline until I drove it, BMW tried to pressure me into buying a 1 series SE?!?! Lexus newcastle had a 320D MSport in and the deal was done.

1 Previous owner, FBMWSH, 24000 miles, the usual MSport bits and bobs, and better MPG.

The runflats were horrible, as were the standard wheels, so a jaunt to Telford secured me some Genuine BBS CHs

Almost 2 years on, the car has literally just hit 48k, and nothing has gone wrong with it yet, it's rarely driven hard due to me owning the VTS, the BMW is 100% standard with the exception of the wheels, my forgotten hero.

I want one of these, bit of a pipedream though! Maybe in a few years.
Buy mine, it'll be the least abused one out there! ;p

Glad you're pleased with it. What colour is that? Le Mans Blue, or Montego Blue?

I prefered the original wheels though smile
Thanks, it's Le Mans, I still have the original wheels & tyres biggrin

I will buy yours when it's worth an amount I can afford.

About 3 grand then.

It's going to be a long wait!

I like the bigger wheels, changes it from a common commuter car into something which looks a lot more special.
I may have it that long!

They do set it off a lot, and for 19"s it actually still sits low, a lot of people ask if it's been lowered.

what's the cheapest for an E90 MSport these days? gotta be 5k ish?

Great looking car smile Dont know how you can drive a Saxo after getting out of an E90 lol
To be honest it takes me about a week to get used to driving the BMW after I go in the saxo, the seat in the saxo is low and the handling is so much sharper, the comfort however makes up for it!

Nice car OP smile

In your opinion is ther enough room in the back to carry 2 adults and a 10yo?

I want a 3-series but not sure if it has enough room for the occasional family trip?
To be honest I'd say no, I have a 6 & 2 year old, the eldest is in a booster and the youngest is still in a car seat, if we do have to carry another child they have to go in the front and my missus has to squeeze between the kids in the back.

I'd imagine it to be the same with 2 adults and a kid in the middle, it probably could be done, but I doubt it would be a nice experience.

I'd suggest going and getting in the back of all of the cars you're thinking of, adjust the drivers sear first, then all jump in the back.

I'm looking at a 730d, possibly an A8, possibly the L flavour for when they grow up a bit

Great car OP.

I am considering one of these soon, whats the real life MPG like?
Mixed I can get 45-50 on a tank if I think about it, if I don't I get 42

If you're on a motorway a lot 55+

My current commute is mixed to say the least!

I'm surprised by those figures. I get 46 out of a high mileage 2007 520d - going up to 50 in a run. I'm not a particularly slow driver, but not much of my driving is proper city crawling.
the issue is my journey, urban, city, gridlock, 2 mins of the A1, then a series of roundabouts, add to the mix the usual weekends of stop starting and short journeys and the MPG ends up like that.

A spirited jaunt to Leeds a few weeks back saw 50mpg, and my old 30 mile commute (each way), basically cutting out the roundabout section for an additional 15 miles of the A1 and I could see 60mpg

The real world MPG figures are always about 2mpg less than the trip computer says too?

Well, the car is 100 miles off 50k, so I thought I'd update this post.

Problems so far, the coating on the steering wheel trim is peeling a bit at the edges, I'll just remove it wand wrap it I think.

And the bonnet release catch is sticking, probably due to the weather, so I'll get that greased up.

Other than that, the car is tip top, bring on the winter! (but not snow please)

I do like these cars! Ive got a 3rd on the way so my other 2kids will be 5 and 7..... reckon you could get 3 across the back?

Are you running yours with an extended BMW warranty or anything?
I'd say no, the middle seat is sort of raised if that makes sense?

I have a 2 year old in a child seat, and a 6 year old in a booster and you can just about get the arm rest down between them.

And yeah I have extended the warranty with BMW, it was £550 for the year with breakdown

I have the same car in the same colour although its the slightly less frugal 325 petrol! Out of interest, where did you get your wheels from? I'm not a fan of aftermarket wheels normally but I like those. I wanted some csl wheels but don't want to ruin the ride with 19" wheels and the 18" replicas are not supposed to be up to much so I'm told. Im in the Newcastle area.
I bought them from telford, a guy was trading in his 335D and BMW were scared of them, he got them from Rimstyle:

http://www.rimstyle.com/alloywheels/detail/?car_mo...

Mine had Msport alloys with runflats, 17", these wheels + tyres are lighter! oh and if you're currently on runflats, you'll be amazed at the ride once you change!

Thanks for the info. I'm on the standard 18" m sport wheels but the lacquer is peeling off so good time to change. I changed to normal tyres. The handling isn't quite as pin sharp but the ride is so much better. A much more acceptable compromise.
Mine handles like a boat compared to my VTS so I just tend to cruise about in it

completely off topic, but what app is that for fuel economy calculations?

edit: nice car by the way, and definitly the best colour for an E90 M-Sport (see my profile biggrin )
It's called "Road Trip", you can add running costs such as servicing etc, this will factor into your cost per mile

It's jazzy

Well mid November 2012 was my last post, since then I've done almost 4 thousand miles, and finally have a problem.

The bonnet latch sticks a bit, other than that, all is good!

Bit of an mpg update for you that are interested, My new commute is an 80 mile round trip, mainly the A1, the car will see 55mpg easily on a longer commute with say 35m of motorway and 5 of urban type things each way. I've managed over 60mpg when sticking to the inside lane.

It's in for a service on Saturday, a timed one, not a condition based one, as I said, it's not driven hard.

I'll report back with what massive expense I have to fork out.

Well it got serviced at an indy, ex BMW & Merc guy. The Service cost me about £180 and consisted of a brake fluid change and an oil change, possibly something else, I didn't really pay that much attention, so I'll check the receipt and update this. Anyway, the thing I did notice was the MPG!

So I decided to have an economy tank to see what I could manage on my new mainly A1 commute of 80 miles per day, 1st tank, 720 miles from 60L! 54.5 mpg, and as I type this it's currently done 124 miles with a range of 760 left! sat at 65.7 mpg

I don't know what BMW did during the last oil service, or if the place this time have used cooking oil, but it's giving me the figures I was expecting when I bought the car.

I'd like to point out this is at 55-60mph on cruise while playing scrabble & drinking coffee on my way in, not the usual rep-esque balls to the wall these cars are normally treated to!

Well, another 8 months of trouble free motoring!

I'm contemplating a change, errr, I've changes the headlight bulbs to Osram Nightbreakers so I can see where I'm going now, and my passenger door handle is sticking a bit.

It's just ticked over to 68k, and is still pretty much fine!

Thanks, the car may be going soon, but I'm toying with keeping the wheels, they're my favorite alloys, I might just hang them in the garage and look at them.

Why are you thinking of getting rid of it? Sounds like the perfect car for the job.
I just fancy something with a bit more poke.

Having said that it could be winter blues from not using my little track car.
