So after passing my test 4 years ago but being in debt owning a car faded into the background and the epic slog of paying my debtors began.

Now 4 years down the line I ahve paid them off and was ni the position to buy a cheap car

This popped up from a friend at work at a price I couldn't really pass up

Its a Toyota Celica Gen 7 140, has every optional extra ticked from the factory and has recently ticked onto 99,000 miles

I absolutely love it! It isn't great on fuel is my first observation but it seems to get nice looks from people even though they're all just probably considering flagging me down for a cut and blow dry (had lots of hairdresser comments from friends)

There are a couple things I want to put right bodywork wise but I'm not looking to plow loads into it

On with the pictures, they're not great but they'll do for now

I joined the celica club the day before I picked it up, brilliant forum to be honest

I plan on keeping it as long as it has life in it, all the while putting away what I can for when I replace it

I don't think I want to go back to a normal driving position, its so comfy!!

Nice first car! All I know about these is keep an eye son the oil level (although that goes for all cars) . When did the car live in cornwall , I noticed the boot sticker but your in Leed? That quite some distance away.
The original owner lives in Cornwall, she then sold the car to her son in law (the person I bought the car from) who lives in Harrogate and works with me

It spent its years before my ownership going between Cornwall and Harrogate

The oil issue is apparently pre '53 cars but I'll be keeping an eye on it anyway like you say

You're right. The oil consumption was an issue on pre facelift cars (different rear lights make easy to show) and after that they're good cars. Almost bought a 54 one, but I changed my mind last minutesmile

Nice post. Any mods in mind?
Cheers buddy

Erm well it only cost me 1k so I dont want to plow too much money in

My intial plans were:
Sports M replica spoiler
Carbon wrap the scoop and top plane of the spoiler
Spray alloys black
Paint calipers yellow
Induction kit of some kind
Custom catback exhaust
Front splitter of some description
Pistonheads and celica owners stickers
Blacked out window tint on rear quarters and back window
Tinted light clusters on rear
Wind deflectors

However I'm now thinking it makes more sense to spend sod all and save up for a Supra Aerotop in a few years

The list is now a lot shorter:
Light smoke on rear 3 windows
Carbon wrap on scoop and spoiler plane
Pistonheads and celica owners stickers
Wind deflectors
Black alloys
Yellow calipers

I want to improve my brakes, they're absolutely dire

Other than that I'm more than happy with it as is, although I would like to powder coat the alloys, they look a bit tired

Put some Yellowstuff brake pads in it, and check the break fluid, it may need a change. Give that a go, then uprate the discs.
Thanks mate, I'll give all of that a go!

Don't bother with the greenstuff ones as they're only good up to 200hp, and they spit out brake dust like a pig, no grey alloys normally end up anthracite after 10 days
ooo so if I get green ones I don't have to fork out to powder coat my alloys wink haha

Have you thought about going for a 2-tone effect on your alloys?
haha great minds wink

I haven't tbh, do you mean the face of them one colour and the inner bits another?

As fitted to mine. Really makes the car and I've noticed a LOT of people look at them in traffic. Really sets the car off, and looks better than the whites, blacks, or greys.
Do you have a picture of yours please mate?

Never been sold on 2 tone rims but those look interesting!

all had FSH....until you checked the service book...hahaha...
.
what a superb first car...140hp...
my first car...mini-metro...had 39hp...and rust holes!!!! that cost £1000 in 1987...
hahaha....second car a 1.1 mk2 escort with 1.3 engine fitted..and drum brakes all round and yet more rust holes...hahaha....
used to spend all my spare money on body filler....
ahh not so much a hairdressers car as I thought then smile

Most of my mates are pissed off because they're driving 1.2 corsa's etc but like I said to them use your imagination and you can get something decent without breaking the bank like I did
