Stanced Datsun 240z Project
Discussion
It's a 1970 Datsun 240z, 4 speed manual, US import from California.
The paintwork is horrendous and it needs the carb re-jetted and set up properly as ran like a dog but it still got me 600 miles from Guildford to Aberdeen with only a few roadside bodges
Plans are not to everyones liking in terms of low and wide but it's what i've bought the car for so it'll be happening!
Immediate Plans
Re-jet carbs and get running perfect
Seats/Harnesses/Cage
Lowered
Wide Ass Wheels
Carbon bolt on arches
Carbon duck tail spoiler
Front AirDam lip
Future Plans
Engine swap - LS1 or 2JZ
Full Respray - Dark gunmetal of some sort
Re-trimmed Interior
Anyway time for photos
A few jobs completed over the last few weeks.
De-bumpered the rear
Bought a new set of wheels ready for when the cars a little lower. You'll see from the photos that it doesn't sit quite right being higher.
Removed all the AC as it wasn't working or even connected! More room now for a new rad and electric fan kit.
Next - Fit the seats and harnesses, get some coilovers made and get the fuel tank welded up

You're about to ruin a 70's classic ,think twice .
Ruin depends on your point of view. I know that this won't be to everyones tastes and accept that. (Also one of the reasons i put "stanced" in the thread title). The car will be put back together well and this wont be a bodge job. I'll make the car my own and hopefully change a few opinions in the process

Lovely car and sounds like potentially an interesting project. Any idiot can "stance" a car, just look at the number of ruined Mk1/Mk2 golfs out there. I have a feeling you're not going to really "stance" it though and your just going to mod it tastefully!
This is what i've done with my Supra so hopefully you get the idea for the Datsun GringoG60 said:
That's not "stanced" that is far too nicely done to label it that- it looks like the tyres fit the rims and the suspension isn't broken! It looks good, used to import these when grey imports first started. Great cars especially the Jap spec'd manual cars.
Oh i know this isnt stanced, more just that i'm not a moron modding the Datsun to destruction Bosshogg76 said:
Love these, lowered on a set of Watanabees, although a rather cliched look would be my favourite.
I live down the road in Broughty Ferry and I'm looking for another project after turning this into this.
Could I ask roughly what figure was you bought that for? as the ones I've seen seem to be around the 10k figure for Us imports. Just a higher or lower than that would give me a target price.
Thanks and looking forward to seeing this develop
It was advertised for £14k for 6 months or so then dropped and i didn't get much change out of £10kI live down the road in Broughty Ferry and I'm looking for another project after turning this into this.
