Ok I know its not exciting and its bit hairdressary but its nice example of a good solidly built Audi, (one of the last of the good ones)

Its a 1999 2.6 V6 Cab I bought in September 2013 and since owning it I have re-newed the whole of the suspension, not because it really needed it but it hadn't been done since new and I wanted to do it for peace of mind. Springs, struts, wish-bones, track rod ends, link arms...etc etc. I have also had the timing belt, water pump and tensioner changed too. You can see its in pretty good condition, there is not a mark on it, its got 50k miles on the clock and has full service history. I didn't pay the earth for it when I bought it and hoping that if I keep it, it might appreciate one day..

Everything works on it, the only thing that is not standard it the electric aerial and the radio, I have the standard radio with it but its a bit crap and doesn't answer the phone so it will stay with the car as it belongs with it.

It only gets used from April to October as we have another set of wheels for the winter.

Engine is great, silky smooth but is pretty gutless for a supposedly 150BHP, I suppose these cars are quite hefty too. I went on a decent run across the country last year and watched the fuel consumption and got about 32mpg, which I thought was not too bad considering the age and aerodynamics with the roof down.

My rear "screen" was pretty well clouded up as I imagine that is also original, so I decided to go for a new rear screen to be fitted, I called the place to get it done and the nice lady asked if I had tried their "magic clearing liquid" which I hadn't, so she told me to go onto ebay and buy a bottle. It was only about 6 or 7 pounds and tried it, it worked a trwat and certainly cleared it by about 50% better than it was, so she saved me about 275 pounds, which I though was great, so I now have a kind of semi clear rear screen, certainly better than it was when I bought the car. I will give it a couple of years and if it gets worse I shall invest in one.

You dont happen to have the details for the 'magic' screan cleaning stuff, do you?

My mk1 Mx5 screen is appalling!

Lovely car btw, as you say from an era when Audis were unsurpassed in their build quality
OK just been online and found it, not sure if you can buy over the phone but I got mine via Ebay and it came the next day, word of warning, its not an easy job as it involves a lot of circular motion rubbing, you end up with a right arm like Arnies, if you`re right handed. Well worth the effort and not expensive. Just follow the instructions and keep the cream away from your hood material as it will mark it, only apply it to the screen.

Just found it on Ebay, one bottle did mine but I will probably do it every year to keep it clear

I have an 80 Coupe with the 2.6 engine in, and I found it surprisingly quick. Seems to shift a lot quicker than the power figures suggest and it's one of the smoothest V6 engines I've driven. Maybe the cabriolet is a lot heavier than the Coupe?
Just been looking around the net for 0-60 times on the Cab and the Coupe, for 2.6 engines. the best times I could find on both cars were:

2.6 Cab 9.9 seconds
2.6 Coupe 9.6 seconds

Neither of which I would call "quick" by a long shot, but then quick is perceived differently by different people, depends on what you`re used to I suppose.
